Dear parents & students,
December is almost here! Here's what you need to know:
This month is all about celebrating your progress this last term!
For our Yamaha Group students, this entails in-class concerts taking place December 12th to 18th in which parents will be invited inside to listen! For individual student's, we have the winter recital on December 16th! We can't wait to share your hard work!
Then, we go on our winter break!
The school will be closed December 20th to January 2nd.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 3rd.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
We hope you have a very wonderful, much deserved break!
If sick, please let us know and attend lessons from home.

This is a friendly reminder to all community members to please stay home if sick or feeling unwell regardless of whether it is Covid. (We understand some students have a habitual or asthma cough that can last for a long time - please let us and your teacher know of the situation and continue to wear masks during flares, thank you! :-)

Our winter concerts are almost here! Individual students will have a winter recital and group students will have in-class concerts: |

GROUP STUDENTS
In-Class concerts will take place
Dec 15-18th during the regular lesson time.
Students and parents are encouraged to prepare to play solo pices of their choice. |

Local author and illustrator, Patricia Wong, is excited to share her debut book "Finding Hello"!
"This book was inspired by my son. 88 Keys played an instrumental role in developing my son’s confidence. He was a timid boy who learned to overcome his anxieties. He used to be so nervous performing in front of his peers, but after years of positive reinforcement at the school, he now volunteers to play with confidence! He truly loves being at 88 Keys; it’s a welcoming place with teachers that genuinely love what they do. I am excited to contribute a portion of the proceeds of the book to 88 Keys to support the important musical community the school has created."
Included in the purchase of a copy of the book is a song sheet of the song "Finding Hello" composed by her son. Purchase instructions provided below!

Ms. Natalia is hosting more art workshops at 88Keys!
As you may know, a local art educator, Ms Natalia, is hosting art classes at our school! Thank you to everyone who has come out to her recent workshops!
we are happy to announce that she will be hosting more each week!
Classes every Friday evening

RCM "Music Lights the Way" Piano Festival |
|

|
Individual piano students studying the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM) curriculum can submit a video of their own performance of a favourite repertoire piece from their current level of the RCM sixth edition books for a chance to win one of 124 prizes valued over $150,000 total! The festival is now open for submissions until December 1st and free to enter! Interested RCM students should speak to their teachers and see the website linked below for more details. All RCM prepatory and repertoire levels are welcome.
There are prizes to be awarded both in judged categories AND a participation draw so we highly encourage all RCM students to enter by December 1st! |

Composition Masterclass: One on one with Ms. Alondra |

Our composition masterclass lessons return this September! Students in the JAC/JSAC levels are welcome to take these online one on one lessons to expand on their knowledge of music composition and refine their own pieces with Ms. Alondra's help!
Lessons will be available online-only on Wednesdays with Ms. Alondra.
Student's compositions will be featured in Junior Original Composition
activities including the JOC concert!
