There is a lot happening at 88Keys!
Your inbox may have been busy this last week as there is so much for us to tell you about! Please read on to learn more:
Eligible Yamaha group classes should have received exam materials and registration form links! If you haven't, please let us know to share them with you.
Please submit your registration form by February 28th.
You may have also heard about our new 88Keys Piano Competition lead by Ms. Alondra!
Registration is open until February 28th.
Our JOC students have been working hard on their original compositions and we can't wait to show you! Participating students will need to register for the concert by February 15th.
Finally, there are also some external festivals that you may be interested in! Please read on to learn more about YIP's Music Festival. Registration deadlines for virtual and in-person performance is fast approaching!

YIP's Music Festival is an external music festival which our students can enter in either section of: RCM Graded Pieces
or Recital pieces. Students can enter to perform online or in person:
Virtual registration deadline is February 1st
In-Person registration deadline is February 21st
Interested participants should let us and their teacher know! Make sure to read both syllabus and rules & regulations pages carefully.

We are excited to announce a new project organized by the school under Ms. Alondra's lead! We will be holding our very first 88Keys Piano competition on site on:
Saturday, March 11th
Registration is open to all students 6 years of age and above who fall into one fo the three following categories:
- Beginner (6-9 yo): JMC4 / YMC3, RCM 1-3, PF 4-6)
- Intermediate (10-13 yo): JAC 1-3, JSAC2, RCM 4-7, PF 7-)
- Advanced (14yo & up): JAC4+, JSAC4, RCM 8-10, PF 10-12)
To register, just let us and your teacher know that you wish to participate:

Yamaha Grade Exam Registration Open! |

All students in Yamaha group classes with a corresponding Yamaha grade exam should have received links to both their exam preparation materials and registration forms by now. (JMC 1-2, JAC 1,3 & 5 do not have Yamaha Exams).
Please note: Yamaha exams are not required to move onto the next year's class. It is an optional opportunity to have student's progress measured against the benchmark!
Please submit your registration forms by Tuesday, February 28th

This year our Junior Original Composition concert returns to the big stage!
We cannot wait to celebrate their creativity with you! The JOC concert will take place on:
Saturday, April 29th @4:45PM
(The concert will run for approx 2 hours)

As you may know, a local art educator, Ms Natalia, is hosting art classes at our school!
Classes take place every Friday evening

The 88Keys community is full of talented students… and parents! Jen Wong is the author of a kid’s mandarin book series called “I Can Read Mandarin”.
Her beautifully illustrated picture books are focused on helping kids learn basic Mandarin words.
Her first and second book, “I Can Read Mandarin… Colours & Numbers” and “I Can Read Mandarin… Fruits & Vegetables” are now listed on Amazon & Indigo!

Local author and illustrator, Patricia Wong, is excited to share her debut book "Finding Hello"!
"This book was inspired by my son. 88 Keys played an instrumental role in developing my son’s confidence. He was a timid boy who learned to overcome his anxieties. He used to be so nervous performing in front of his peers, but after years of positive reinforcement at the school, he now volunteers to play with confidence! He truly loves being at 88 Keys; it’s a welcoming place with teachers that genuinely love what they do. I am excited to contribute a portion of the proceeds of the book to 88 Keys to support the important musical community the school has created."
Included in the purchase of a copy of the book is a song sheet of the song "Finding Hello" composed by her son. Purchase instructions provided below!
