Dear parents & students,
We are wishing you a very Happy Holidays and New Year!
With 2022 coming to a close, we would like to extend our biggest thank you for being with us, and send our warmest wishes for 2023. We hope your break has been restful and we are excited to welcome you back in the new year!
We'd also like to extend a big congratulations to all of our students for their hard work this past semester and for a wonderful winter recital and in-class concerts!
The school will be closed December 20th to January 2nd.
Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 3rd.
Also, we are happy to share that we have quite a few authors in the 88Keys community! Please see our blurbs below about books authored by our own Ms. Chanel, as well as 88Keys parents including Jennifer Wong, and Patricia Wong!
Finally, please also find material and exam details below :-)

Students of the JMC and YMC classes will be receiving a second set of materials to use for the new semester! These will be handed out in class on the first day back from the break. If your child attends online only, please reach out to us about a time to pick up your new books. They will be available once we reopen on Tuesday, January 3rd

Congratulations UnionVille Music Competition participants!
We are so proud of you for taking the brave step to share your talents outside of our school in front of judges! Congratulations Marianne Chang for placing first in her category, and Lucas and Maximus Chan for placing second in theirs!
Any students interested in competitions should let us and their teachers know to keep an eye out for such opportunities! Performance/competition opportunities will also be shared in our newsletters as we become aware of them :-)

The 88Keys community is full of talented students… and parents! Jen Wong is the author of a kid’s mandarin book series called “I Can Read Mandarin”.
Her beautifully illustrated picture books are focused on helping kids learn basic Mandarin words.
Her first and second book, “I Can Read Mandarin… Colours & Numbers” and “I Can Read Mandarin… Fruits & Vegetables” are now listed on Amazon & Indigo!

Local author and illustrator, Patricia Wong, is excited to share her debut book "Finding Hello"!
"This book was inspired by my son. 88 Keys played an instrumental role in developing my son’s confidence. He was a timid boy who learned to overcome his anxieties. He used to be so nervous performing in front of his peers, but after years of positive reinforcement at the school, he now volunteers to play with confidence! He truly loves being at 88 Keys; it’s a welcoming place with teachers that genuinely love what they do. I am excited to contribute a portion of the proceeds of the book to 88 Keys to support the important musical community the school has created."
Included in the purchase of a copy of the book is a song sheet of the song "Finding Hello" composed by her son. Purchase instructions provided below!

As you may know, a local art educator, Ms Natalia, is hosting art classes at our school! Thank you to everyone who has come out to her recent workshops!

Composition Masterclass: One on one with Ms. Alondra |

Our composition masterclass lessons return this September! Students in the JAC/JSAC levels are welcome to take these online one on one lessons to expand on their knowledge of music composition and refine their own pieces with Ms. Alondra's help!
Lessons will be available online-only on Wednesdays with Ms. Alondra.
Student's compositions will be featured in Junior Original Composition
activities including the JOC concert!
