| AAPP GROWTH FUELED BY A TIDAL WAVE OF MEMBER RENEWALS |
2010 was an incredible growth year for the AAPP and for the field of private medicine. The Academy rebranded itself, hosted a record number of amazingly successful conferences, and laid the foundations for a fantastic value proposition to its members.
Part of the Academy's growth was a result of a very helpful trend among members: on-time membership renewals.
In years past, the membership ranks of the Academy have seen very modest growth. In fact, 2009 left the organization with fewer members than it had the previous year. Things changed dramatically in 2010.
The AAPP increased its membership by a record 50% and quadrupled its revenues from 2009.
How did this happen?
Members renewed their memberships on time. And as the membership grew, corporate sponsors flocked to the Academy recognizing the incredible significance of private physicians as early adopters and trendsetters in the medical community.
In 2011, we will build on this momentum. We have established our Innovators Panel of members who view themselves as early adopters of innovations and desire to interface with the corporate community to bring innovations to market. If you would like to be considered for the Innovators Panel, please contact us.
We have also enlisted State Delegates for about half of the country to drive membership growth and retention, and to extend the reach of the AAPP to the local level.
We all saw firsthand the power of this program at our 2011 kick-off summit in Scottsdale, AZ. Our delegates, Scott Bernstein and Jennifer Sosnowski, with help from Susan Wilder, drove a record attendance of roughly 150 to the event.
If you have an interest in serving as a state delegate, please contact us.
Thank you to all of our members for your timely renewals. 2011 promises to be an amazing year!_____________________ |
AAPP MEMBERS FORUM - JOIN THE CONVERSATION ON LINKED IN
|
|
For months, members have been clamoring for an online forum to communicate with one another, ask questions, and voice opinions. Because its functionality and controls are rich, and our group is growing, we have decided to use the American Academy of Private Physicians group on LinkedIn.com as our member forum.
If you don’t yet have a LinkedIn account, please establish one (it’s free). It will create visibility for you and your practice in this enormous online community, and it will enable you to join the AAPP group.
This group is for members only, and dialogue will be closely monitored to ensure that the group is not misused. If you have questions about how to join, please contact Shelly Banyay at 877.746.7301 or sbanyay@aapp.org.

AAPP AND SONOSITE TO HOST 40 VISUAL MEDICINE (ULTRASOUND) WORKSHOPS AROUND THE U.S. |
|
If you've attended an AAPP Summit in the last year, you have seen the growing rate of ultrasound adoption among private physicians.
The Bale/Doneen Method has raised the consciousness of the value of CIMT screening for heart attack and stroke prevention, and as members are bringing ultrasound into their offices, they are quickly discovering the power of "visual medicine" to attract and engage patients.
The first step is to get your hands on the technology to see how incredibly user-friendly it has become. To this end, we are working with SonoSite, the world leader in handheld ultrasound, to bring a hands-on ultrasound workshop to private physicians across the country.
Visit AAPP.org for dates and locations of the workshops.

HEALTH CARE REFORM IS GETTING WILD, BUT PRIVATE MEDICINE NEED NOT PANIC! |
|
By James J. Eischen, Jr., Esq.
Health care reform is now more than ever subject to the uncertainties of politics as both parties issue calls for voter support. New health care laws are subject to legal scrutiny as litigation challenges fundamental reform components. The jungle of health care law is getting pretty wild.
So what does this mean for those involved with private medicine?
Perhaps that question is best answered by asking a more fundamental question: what prompted private medicine's return in the first place? Frustration with plan benefits terms, physician reimbursement, and plan-funded medicine's inability to deliver timely primary care.
