Dear Friends and Supporters,
For all of us at AIP Foundation, March has been a month of celebrating all women working in the road safety field around the world. As a women-led foundation, we are proud to work by your side to save lives. Together, we are activists, leaders, innovators, scientists, and facilitators who are building an equal and sustainable future for everyone.
In celebration of International Women’s Day, we attended the Women and Road Safety Webinar hosted by the International Transport Forum. Together, we must #BreaktheBias to achieve #GenerationEquality.
At the 7th Global Meeting of the Global Alliance of NGOs for Road Safety, Executive Director, Lotte Brondum proclaimed, "let it be the decade of action for NGOs”. In all areas of our work, we continue to take action to empower vulnerable road users, however we cannot act alone.
Inspiring our youth to take action, we are in the final days of the
Heads Up! Campaign empowering students across Cambodia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam to help save lives with their helmet safety videos.
In Cambodia, we used lessons learned as part of the
Prevention and Participation program, supported by VF Corporation to move forward to safeguard vulernable road users on their daily commute.
As part of the
Safety Delivered program, supported by The UPS Foundation, we met with the local partners, to discuss the new phase of the program and the upcoming program activities in 2022 to save lives in the Philippines. Our staff in Thailand are also gearing up for the
Safety Delivered program activities in the capital city, where over 3000 quality helmets will be distributed as part of the program in 2022.
We are also proud to share that the first-generation of the Bridgestone Youth Road Safety Champions successfully graduated in Thailand. The Champions are now familiar with the tools and knowledge to raise their voice and take a stand against the global road safety crisis.
We had a fun-filled
SAFE STEPS KIDS Road Safety Day, supported by Prudential Vietnam for students in central Vietnam. Through interactive fun and games, students practiced their road safety skills and knowledge focusing on helmet use and pedestrian safety. This Road Safety Day is an opportunity to spread the achievements of interactive and participative methods of the program for road safety education.
At the Saigon Urban Arts Festival, AIP Foundation was proudly representing SDG11, Sustainable Cities and Communities, as we profoundly believe that road safety and urban art intervention can work together to save lives on the roads and ensure healthier cities for living.
As the Gia Lai Provincial People’s Committee regulation reducing speed in school zones to 30-40 km/h in Pleiku City came into force, a public awareness campaign and speed encformcent campaign from our steadfast partner, the Pleiku Police Department was carried out throughout March. For all students across Pleiku City, the speed limits will not only safeguard them on their commutes to school but will also ensure that all students have safe and equal access to their education. The reduced speed limits improve road safety immensely in Pleiku while increasingly encouraging families to walk and ride their bicycles to school, paving the way for healthier and greener cities where #Love30 is a reality.
This is our target.
This is our call to action.
This is our time to #CommitToAct to make #Love30 a reality all across the world.
Please read on.
Sincerely,
Mirjam Sidik
