Family & Friends of the Abbott Sports Complex,
The Abbott Sports Complex would like to thank all of you who have visited our facility, competed on our fields and courts and contributed to the Abbott Scholarship Program. Thanks to you, we were able to provide $95,000 to 454 athletes in programming assistance in 2011!!! And now, we have a unique opportunity--thanks to the Lincoln Community Foundation--to earn a proportional share of a $200,000 challenge match fund for donations made on May 17th in celebration of Give To Lincoln Day!
Lincoln Public Schools will be ending an eleven year stay at the complex this summer as district-wide school renovations conclude. LPS’s departure creates an opportunity for us to reconfigure the Indoor Center. In early Fall we will begin by replacing the school with NEW INDOOR TURF. We also hope to add new volleyball net systems, basketball goals, and an additional youth turf training area. We have also reserved a portion of the proceeds on this day to support the Abbott Scholarship Program.
With this in mind, we'd certainly welcome your support that day--per the instructions below--but we'd also love to see you at the Class B State Tennis Tournament that is being held at the complex that day. We will be providing access to the internet (for online gifts) and serve as a drop-off location for check donations. Abbott’s Give to Lincoln Day will take place at the Tennis Center at 7600 N. 70th Street in Lincoln from 10:00am-4:00pm.
To make a donation, there are two options that will qualify for the matching program.
1. Donate online Thursday, May 17th (12:00am-11:59pm) at http://givetolincoln.razoo.com/story/Lincoln-Sports-Foundation . We are asking all Abbott Sports Complex families to consider a $25 online donation to support the Indoor Center remodel and Abbott Scholarship Program. If you are unable to join us on May 17th at the complex, you can still make an online donation by using the same link provided.
2. You may also donate by check on or before May 17th. Checks must be made out to Lincoln Community Foundation with "Lincoln Sports Foundation" in the memo section. Drop off in person at the complex on May 17th or mail to: Abbott Sports Complex, 7600 N. 70th Street, Lincoln, NE 68517. Checks must be received by May 17th to be eligible for the matching and bonus support funds.
3. Help us spread the word! Forward this information to your family and friends along with a personal note as to why you believe they should support us in this unprecedented 24-hours of online giving to nonprofits on May 17th.
