You may have noticed that my last e-mail was about the sale of Kindle and ePUB versions of many of my books. I have both Nook and Kindle e-book readers, and test the converted files on them before setting them up for sale. While reviewing these files, I noticed a difference in how well the file formats are presented in the different readers. The ePUB format, which works on the Nook, is clearly superior to the MOBI format used on a Kindle. This is especially notable when you look at tables, since the ePUB format correctly presents information flush right (usually), while the Kindle is not so consistent. So, if you are contemplating an e-book reader purchase over this holiday season and you intend to read business or school books with it, I think you will see better performance with readers that use the ePUB format. Just a thought. |
