Lid Storage Tips
Many times when you're going to cook something you have a hard time finding the right lid to match your pot--the lid has either been misplaced, or you can't find the right size. Here's a simple solution you can do yourself to help you end the problem of the phantom lid.

Simply take an inexpensive towel rod and cut to size to fit the back of your cabinet door. Install the towel rod on the back of the door (check the screw length so it doesn't go through the door). Once the towel rod is installed, simply place your lids on the towel rod so that the handle rests on the towel rod and the bottom of the lid is against the back of the door.

For more lids, you can always add a couple towel rods to the back of the cabinet door. In a few minutes, without breaking the bank, you can store your lids so you can find them easily the first time, every time!

Shoes or More?
Do you hate digging around under your kitchen sink trying to find your cleaning supplies? If so, this easy tip can help you quickly organize everything from glass cleaner to dusters and stain remover with one inexpensive product.

You may have never thought of using a shoe organizer for anything other than, well, shoes; but a clear, over-the- door shoe organizer can also be used to neatly organize a lot of items. For example, if you have space on the back of a door leading to a cleaning closet or pantry, hang the shoe organizer over the door for more cleaning supply storage.

The clear pockets make it easy for you to find what you are looking for and, you do not have to move items around to look for something in the back of a cabinet.

These organizers can also be used in other rooms in your home such as the bathroom for storing medicines, extra shampoo and conditioner, body washes, cotton balls, etc. Or how about your kids room to organize toy cars and stuffed animals?

Helpful hint: To prevent the shoe organizer for swinging and banging the door, put a push pin through the bottom corners or place two sided tape or velcro on the back of the organizer.

Quick Spice Rack
The clutter of a spice cabinet can be unbearable. Even if you have your spices arranged in alphabetical order, most cabinets are only so wide, requiring you to put spices in front of other spices. This can make it very difficult to find what you're looking for when you need it! With the rush of today's dinners, you need all the time you can get. Don't worry, though, we have a quick fix to unclutter your spice cabinet in minutes.

You may already have a thin spring-tension curtain rod in your home that's not being used you can use for this project. If not, just stop by your local hardware store and purchase as many as you think you will need.

To get started, clear out the cabinet where you want your spices. Once the cabinet is cleared out, all you need to do is adjust the curtain rod to fit inside the cabinet. Place the curtain rod towards the back of the cabinet so that it is just far enough away that the spice containers can rest on the bar and the back of the cabinet. For multiple rows you can install a couple "shelves" using 2 curtain rods.

With these new spice racks in place, you can see the front labels of all your spices so you can quickly find what you're looking for!

Halloween Safety
This Halloween be sure to keep your kids safe while trick-or-treating. Always accompany your children and make sure to walk on sidewalks--not in streets. Also make sure to carry flashlights or trim costumes with reflective tape so you and your children can be easily seen by motorists.

All of us at Ace Hardware hope you have a great Halloween. Have fun,  be safe and try not to overdose on the candy!
