Dear Subscriber

Spring Youth Service Day, which took place April 15-17, called countless chapters across the country outdoors to provide service for their communities. Thanks to Youth Service Grants, 26 additional chapters were able to fully participate in this national service event. Thank you to the alumni whose generous donations made this possible!

And although the Spring Youth Service Day is over, be sure to continue taking advantage of this spring weather by planning service events that can be done in the sunshine.

A fun, creative recruitment video from Omicron Iota Chapter is included in this e-newsletter. Be sure to check it out and be thinking of creative videos your chapter can make and potentially be the May Video of the Month winner!

Happy Spring!

April Video of the Month: Omicron Iota Chapter at Worcester Polytechnic Institute

Omicron Iota Chapter at Worcester Polytechnic Institute put together a fun  and entertaining recruitment video, with a guest appearance by the Alpha Gamma Pi Chapter at the University of Maine at Farmington.

Is your chapter working hard to create fun, informational and educational videos for recruitment, etc.? Share your efforts with brothers across the nation by nominating your video for the May Video of the Month. Simply post your video to YouTube, then send a link to the Torch Topics Editorial Staff at publications@apo.org.

APO Brother Awarded Truman Scholarship

Congratulations to Brother Miles Owen, Alpha Zeta Kappa '09 at Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond, for being one of only 60 students in the nation to receive the prestigious Truman Scholarship, an award given by the Truman Foundation to recognize college juniors with exceptional leadership potential who are committed to careers in government, nonprofit or advocacy sectors, education or elsewhere in the public service.

SYSD 2011 Project Reports Due By May 2

Spring Youth Service Day went off without a hitch last weekend for chapters across the nation. Now that your chapter has completed its project for the year, be sure to share the good news of your project with your campus and community news outlets.

Also, remember that reporting your SYSD project to the Fraternity on www.apo.org is REQUIRED by May 2, 2011. If your chapter did not complete a SYSD project, reporting "no project" is still required in order to remain in "good standing" with the Fraternity.
