Dear Subscriber

The 41st Biennial National Convention in Atlanta was an amazing success with the Cardinal Principles alive and well throughout the four-day event. The Fraternity welcomed a new Board of Directors, handed the Convention flame over to the bid team from Anaheim, California and ended it all with the largest circle of brotherhood to sing the Fraternity's Toast Song.

With the spring 2011 semester now under foot, be sure you are checking the calendar of events to the left for leadership development opportunities that you and other members of your chapter can take advantage of to improve your chapter. Also remember that chapter officer updates are due to the National Office by January 31 and Youth Service Grant applications are due by February 1. See the articles below for more information on both of these items.

Enjoy the start of your new semester and remember to carry the Cardinal Principles wherever you go, sharing them with others along the way. There can never be too many brothers.

President Mark Stratton's 2010 National Convention Awards Banquet Key Note Address

Brothers -

Tonight, let me first say that I am honored by your trust and humbled by your faith.  Having been elected National President by you is indeed a great honor, but not so great as first being a brother in Alpha Phi Omega.  In truth, membership in Alpha Phi Omega is the highest honor that the Fraternity can bestow.

National Service Organization Brings Together 1,800 Volunteers and Raises $7k for Make-A-Wish Foundation

By Devika Rao, Atlanta Journal-Constitution

“We have a saying here at [Alpha Phi Omega],”said Carla Moran, external relations director of the 85-year old service fraternity. “We like to leave places better than we found them and by having our national convention in Atlanta, we hope to do just that.”

On Dec. 30, APO brought out the volunteers to take on the Pinewood Derby, a national derby race that lets a coach and a Cub Scout design, carve, paint, weigh, refine, and race the car. The race brought together more than 30 troops from the Atlanta Area Council’s Scoutreach Program.
