I used to dedicate part of my time to teaching when I was living and working back in Brazil. Your school seems to be a vibrant, dynamic and mission-oriented learning community. It will be a delight to have the opportunity to interact with this wonderful and diverse group of students and faculty. I believe that new schools with this kind of spirit are at the cutting edge in contemporary theological education."
Barreto will speak on issues such as Religious Liberty, Human Rights, Social and Environmental Justice, and Peacemaking. Since this year is the celebration of the 400th anniversary of Baptist pastor Thomas Helwys’
Mystery of Iniquity (1612), the first defense and declaration of Religious Liberty in the English language, Dr Barreto will include that topic in one of the sessions. He will also deliver the Convocation address on May 22.
