Important Follow-Up Regarding UHC Insurance
Termination For Libyan Students in the United States

March 3rd, 2015

Dear Libyan Students in the United States,

As a follow-up to our message dated February 25th, 2015 concerning the termination of your UnitedHealthCare (UHC) group student health insurance plan, CBIE would like to provide you with the following additional information:

It has come to our attention that student online profiles accessed through myUHC.com currently show the health plan as ‘Active’. This can be misleading to students and healthcare providers who may think this means claims can still be processed through UHC. In fact, this is not the case. It may take up to 2 weeks for UHC’s database to be fully updated to reflect the February 28, 2015 termination status.

Even if a student’s record is currently showing as  active with UHC, within 2 weeks’ time the record will be retroactively terminated to February 28, 2015. This means that if you or a healthcare provider attempt to process any claims after February 28, even if the claims initially appear to be processed by UHC, they will bounce back and be rejected when the February 28, 2015 termination is retroactively entered by UHC.

Therefore CBIE would like to take this opportunity to remind you that any health insurance expenses incurred after February 28th, 2015 must be covered by you or the new insurance plan that you purchased through your school/alternative provider, and CBIE/UHC will not be responsible for the reimbursement of these claims.
