Important Update from the LNASP
May 16th, 2014

Dear Libyan Students in Canada,

CBIE would like to provide you with some important program updates:

June MLA

Students in Canada who appeared on the Ministry’s First and Second Quarter MLA Budget, and those funded through the New Student lists, as well as Extension Tafweedat lists, for which CBIE has received the funds, will be receiving their June MLA on time.

Insurance

Eligible students will continue to be covered under their health insurance plan through June 30th, 2014. Based on our recent communication with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, we are anticipating the receipt of the health insurance budget within the next 2-3 weeks. It will cover the outstanding balance of the insurance budget from April 2013 to April 2014 and will ensure continuous health coverage beyond June 30th.

Third/Fourth Quarter MLA Budget

CBIE is currently communicating with the Ministry and the Scholarship Department to request an anticipated timeline for receiving the MLA funds and the accompanying lists for the 3rd and 4th quarter of 2014.

Tafweedat Discrepancies

CBIE is working closely with the Libyan Embassy in Ottawa to reconcile the Tafweedat Lists, that have been received, but for which the funds have not yet been transferred. Once we have reconciled these lists, your Academic Manager will inform you accordingly.

Office Closure – Victoria Day/ Journée nationale des patriotes (in Québec)

Please note that the CBIE office will be closed on Monday, May 19th, 2014 for Victoria Day/ Journée nationale des patriotes (in Québec). Operations will resume the following day, on Tuesday May 20th, 2014.

CBIE will continue to work closely with the Ministry and the Libyan Embassy in Ottawa to help bridge any funding gaps currently impacting the students and the scholarship program as a whole. We will keep you apprised of any new developments as they happen. Thank you again for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,
The Libyan-North American Scholarship Program
