Libyan-North American Scholarship
Program Updates

October 24th, 2014

Dear Libyan Students in North America,

CBIE would like to take this opportunity to share with you the following key updates impacting your scholarship benefits:

Status of the Quarter 4 Monthly Living Allowance (MLA) Funds

Please note that as of this date, CBIE has not received the Quarter 4 MLA funds from the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MOHESR). We have, however, received the Quarter 4 lists of students in Canada and the United States. The only change when comparing the Quarter 3 list with the Quarter 4 list is that students who have a Ministry end date of July – September 2014 have been removed from the Quarter 4 list.

We continue to follow-up with the Libyan Embassies in Washington, D.C. and Ottawa on the the status of the funds. We have been assured by our contacts in the Libyan Embassies that as soon as the funds are transferred from the Libyan Central Bank (LCB) to their account, a notification of the  Quarter 4 transfer will be sent to us immediately.

Health Insurance Coverage for November 2014

Regarding the November health insurance coverage, eligible students who currently have insurance will continue to have uninterrupted health coverage through the end of November. Please be advised that CBIE has not received the outstanding insurance budget funds for April-October 2014, and we continue to communicate directly with the scholarship department in an effort to reconcile and resolve major budgetary issues currently impacting the program.

Important Dates and Reminders

Please note that the CBIE Ottawa Office will be closed on November 11, 2014 for the Remembrance Day Holiday. As well, CBIE staff in the U.S. will be out of the office on November 27 and 28 for the U.S. Thanksgiving Holiday.

Sincerely,

The Libyan-North American Scholarship Program
