Launch of Toronto Pilot of Dare to Dream
We had a great launch for the Toronto Pilot of Dare to Dream on October 11th. As part of this program, Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal lawyers and law students will take part in justice education and mentoring activities with the students of the First Nations School of Toronto and with the Mnjikaning Kendaawsin Elementary School on the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Volunteer lawyers and law students participated in training at the Law Soceity of Upper Canada where they learned about Aboriginal law and culture, how to engage and mentor Aboriginal youth, and how the law impacts the lives of Aboriginal youth. Justice Harry LaForme spoke about the importance of Dare to Dream and the need for the legal community to do more to engage and support Aboriginal youth. You can find out more about the training and see pictures
