April 2011

WJFF & CATSKILL HARVEST PRESENT ...
The second annual FOODSTOCK fine food and wine festival, presented by WJFF and Catskill Harvest, takes place on Saturday, May 7th, at the Villa Roma resort in Callicoon. Proceeds benefit WJFF.

FOODSTOCK 2011 features more than 60 (to date!) food and wine vendors sharing their finest local offerings with the community.

Catskill Harvest will have a table this year, and we plan on unveiling  brand new items for the Catskill Harvest Kitchen menu, specifically gourmet sandwich and bakery offerings. Join us at FOODSTOCK 2011, and get the first taste before we put the items out for sale. Our new chef, Cat Hubert, has some delicious ideas in-the-works.

We'll also introduce a community program that will allow you to share your love for baking and give back to Sullivan County. This very special opportunity is only open to FOODSTOCK 2011 attendees. Stop by our table and find out more.

Tickets are just $20, $15 without wine. Reserve your tickets by calling 845.482.4141.

Introducing Corey Atkins
The Go-To Guy for Landscaping & Construction
Many don't know that Catskill Harvest is more than a Gourmet Market & Garden Center. We also have a fully-staffed Landscaping & Construction team, and they're eager to get outdoors and do some great work.

Meet Corey Atkins, Catskill Harvest's main man who makes it happen on the landscaping and construction front.

Not only is Corey a lifelong Sullivan County resident, but he takes pride in his work, he's polite and he's more dependable than many people you'll ever meet.

In other words, Corey is the guy you want running your Catskill Harvest landscaping and construction projects.

Landscaping services include garden installations, stonework, fences, ponds and yes, even chicken coops.
On the construction side, we handle everything related to new development, renovations and additions.

Check out our Landscaping & Construction team's digital photo album at the check-out counter the next time you're in the Market.

Book a project with Corey before the end of April, and we'll knock off 10%. Free consultation. 845.292.3833.
Do You "Like" Catskill Harvest?

Sixty percent of
Catskill Harvest customers use Facebook, according to  results from our 2011 Customer Satisfaction Survey. And that figure will likely grow over the next year.

We believe in social media, and that's why we launched the Catskill Harvest page in December. Last Saturday, we received our 200th "Like." For those unfamiliar with Facebook-speak, clicking "Like" is your way of saying, "I believe in Catskill Harvest. I support what they're doing. I want to keep up with what's going
on." You'll then receive our updates in your Facebook newsfeed.

For us, Facebook isn't about catching up with old high school friends or telling you what time we go to bed at night. (We promise!) Instead, Facebook is about developing a bond, listening and responding to you in a "public" setting, and letting us all get to know each other better. "Engagement' is what some call it.

The sales flyer and email newsletter aren't going anywhere, so you'll still hear about Market and Garden Center discounts, benefits and promotions. Facebook is something else entirely, so we hope that you'll join the conversation.

Like Catskill Harvest, and let's stay in touch in between your visits.
Same-Day Savings in the Garden Center

We already announced this in last week's sales flyer, but the Garden Center Buy More/Save More Program is worth repeating again.

We developed the Buy More/Save More Program in direct response to you.  Going back to the results of our customer survey, you told us that you wanted a buyer program for Garden Center purchases. And that's just what we did.

The Garden Center Buy More/Save More Program will extend discounts of up to 20% based upon the size of your purchase of trees and shrubs. This special benefit is for same-day tree & shrub sales only.

How does it work?

** Spend $250 - $499, save 10%
** Spend $500 - $749, save 15%
** Spend $750 - above, save 20%

Time is of the essence when it comes to your planting and gardening needs, so we created this program as an incentive to get you what you need, and get you back to the garden.

And if you need help in your garden, let Corey Atkins and the Catskill Harvest landscaping guys give you a hand. Ask one of us in the Market for information. [Book in April and save 10%.]
Harvest Happenings

Harvest Happenings is a brand new section aimed at filling you in on Catskill Harvest-related news, including new products, local vendor and farm relationships, event updates, staff news and more. After all, there's much more to Catskill Harvest than what you see on the shelves.

** Cat Hubert joins as head chef in the Catskill Harvest Kitchen. She was most recently a vegetarian cook at Watercourse Foods in Boulder, CO. Cat is also a certified yoga instructor.

**  Eric Chandler joined us in December and is handling all marketing, advertising and public relations. He splits his time between Liberty and NYC, and is also an adjunct instructor at NYU. Reach out to Eric for anything communications-related -- or just to say hello.

**  Catskill Harvest has a home for sale in Liberty. It's ideal for a second-homeowner with a small family. Three bedrooms and 2.5 baths on 12.5 acres. Pass the word. Ask Will for details.

**  Market manager Linda DeCarlo had a volleyball game run-in that's left her temporarily out-of-commission. She'll be back soon. Hang in there, Linda!

**
Did you know that Corey Atkins, head of our landscaping & construction team, is getting married to his fiance, Jill, in July?

**  Does this month's newsletter look a little different?  It's slowly going through a minor "facelift."  Let us know  what kind of information you'd like to see here.

The Tribe
Has Spoken
The Tribe would be you, the customers of Catskill Harvest. And based upon what we know, you're not ready to vote us off the island quite yet.

We recently asked you to take part in our 2011 Customer Satisfaction Survey. We received more than 150 responses and enough valuable feedback to keep us on our toes. We can't thank you enough.

Survey highlights:
**  75% of our customers are full-time Sullivan County residents

**  55% of you drive 10 miles or more to see us

**  You love our ethnic food lines ...

**  ... and don't love when the store music is too loud

**  You asked for more outdoor seating and planted-pots-for-sale

There's a lot more in owner Will Foster's Results, Recommendations & Plans-of-Action letter.
