Driver Appreciation Events – Volunteers Needed

 

The Safety Management Council is hosting Driver Appreciation Events in conjunction with the 72 Hour Road Check.  We will be set up at various Ports of Entry to hand out lunches and water to drivers and inspectors.

 

If you, or anyone in your company would like to volunteer please reach out to patti@cmca.comWe need people on Tuesday, May 17th and Wednesday May 18th.  If we get enough people, we could also host on Thursday, May 19th.

Work resumes on the I-70 Structure Replacement: West of Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial Tunnels project
Crews to complete replacement of deficient structure in the second and final year of construction.

I-70 West Vail Pass Auxilliary Lanes Project
 
Recreation Path Improvements
This year’s activities include relocating a two-mile section of the Vail Recreation Trail and building two bridges to cross this trail over Black Gore Creek. This section of the trail needs to be moved farther from I-70 to allow for the widening of eastbound I-70 for the auxiliary lane and realigning curves. 

Ray Smith Scholarship Applications Now Available for Vocational and Academic Scholarships -  Deadline EXTENDED to May 31st!

 

Eligible recipients include High School graduating seniors to returning College and Technical School students.  Scholarships valued at up to $2,500 will be awarded in May.

International Roadcheck Is May 17-19 With a Focus on Wheel Ends

 

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has announced this year’s International Roadcheck dates as May 17-19 with a focus on wheel ends.

 

International Roadcheck is a 72-hour high-visibility, high-volume commercial motor vehicle inspection and enforcement initiative. Commercial motor vehicle inspectors in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will conduct North American Standard Inspections of commercial motor vehicles and drivers at weigh and inspection stations, on roving patrols, and at temporary inspection sites.

 

Each year, CVSA focuses on a specific aspect of a roadside inspection. This year, the focus will be on wheel ends.  Read More...

Operation Safe Driver Week Is July 10-16 With Focus on Speeding

This year’s Operation Safe Driver Week is scheduled for July 10-16. Law enforcement personnel in Canada, Mexico and the U.S. will be on roadways throughout that week issuing warnings and citations to commercial motor vehicle and passenger vehicle drivers engaging in unsafe driving behaviors, such as speeding, distracted driving, following too closely, improper lane change, drunk or drugged driving, etc.  Read More...
