Beware! Identity Theft Happens to CompaniesToo!
CMCA is working with one of our local, long-time members who has been a victim of Identity Theft. Someone has “cloned” their name and DOT number, forged insurance documents and operating authority documents. The person(s) involved have managed to collect money for past loads, gain payment advances and to pickup loads without delivering them.
Our member now faces a challenge, not only to recover lost revenue, but to clear their company’s name and reputation, and try to salvage business contracts and broker relationships.
PLEASE make sure you are taking whatever steps you can to protect yourself and your company. FMCSA has released some guidance (HERE) that may be helpful.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) says that learning to cope with stress in a healthy way will make you, the people you care about, and those around you become more resilient. What to expect: The latest economic report from ATA estimates the driver shortage to be over 60,000. What role has the pandemic played? Older drivers chose to retire while potential drivers found licensing difficult with the closure of state motor vehicles offices. The launch of the Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse database also impacted the number of drivers on the road. A number of companies raised pay as a means to not only attract new, qualified drivers but also acknowledge how valuable their current drivers have been throughout the year. But, what more can be done to combat the shortage? Founder & CEO of DriverReach, Jeremy Reymer, joins TT's Dan Ronan for a conversation about the driver shortage, capacity constraints, and what fleets can do to help themselves. |
