DOL opinion letter: Time in sleeper berth does not count as compensable time

WASHINGTON — The U.S. Department of Labor said Monday said it had determined that time spent in the sleeper berth by professional truck drivers while otherwise relieved from duty does not count as compensable time.

The DOL issued the determination in a written opinion letter by the department’s Wage and Hour Division (WHD) on how a particular law applies in specific circumstances presented by the individual person or entity that requested the letter.

FMCSA Announces Live ELD Q&A Sessions
FMCSA announced upcoming live ELD question and answer (Q&A) sessions. The Q&A sessions will be held by webcast and are intended for motor carriers, drivers and ELD providers. The sessions for motor carriers and drivers are scheduled for Aug. 13 and 15 and the sessions for ELD providers are scheduled for Aug. 12 and 14. More information can be found on FMCSA’s ELD website

U.S. 50 Little Blue Creek Canyon road improvement and rock fall mitigation project postponed to 2021

MONTROSE & GUNNISON COUNTIES — The Colorado Department of Transportation and the Federal Highways Administration announce the postponement of the U.S. Highway 50 improvement project through the Little Blue Creek Canyon. Due to unforeseen circumstances, work which had been set to originally break ground in the spring of 2020, has now been rescheduled to start in 2021. The project will take place 30 miles east of Montrose between mile points 123 and 127.  Read More...
