Good Things Happen When You Give A Buck

Today’s the day - early giving starts November 1st!! Colorado’s largest day of giving has kicked off, and Coloradans are coming together to celebrate the nonprofits that make our communities strong. Did you know that the Colorado Motor Carriers Foundation is committed to funding educational opportunities, community service programs and research projects for the Colorado trucking industry?

Every dollar helps to fund scholarships and other safety programs. We can only do it with your help. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation so we can continue serving the transportation industry!

Join us for the Foundation Holiday Party

The Foundation Board invites you to join them at their Holiday Party on Thursday, December 1^st.

As in the past, we will hold a Silent Auction to benefit the Foundation’s scholarship, safety and image programs. New this year is an “Ugly Sweater Contest”!

Tickets are $45/person or $80/couple. Tickets include wine & beer tasting, buffet dinner and silent auction. Entry into the Ugly Sweater Contest is an additional $20.

We will once again be auctioning off wonderful items – headlining the auction is a Hockey Stick signed by Avalanche’s own Miko Rantanen, donated by KeyBank!

We are still building our auction and need additional items so if you would like to donate something please reach out to Patti at patti@cmca.com.

The Colorado Motor Carriers Foundation is a 501c3, non-profit organization, and all donations are tax deductible up to the limit of IRS codes.

“Now It Pays to Hire an Apprentice”

Colorado now offers grants to a company that hires an Apprentice (a person in a registered apprenticeship program). This is in addition to the funding of initial CDL training by the work force centers.

Employers can receive up to $7500 as a onetime grant, in addition to the $5600 cost of initial training for each apprentice.

This is to encourage companies to become part of Apprenticeship Programs.

Other benefits are:

It will establish your company as a quality place to work and get quality training
Higher visibility with work force centers, so more referrals of their clients
Historically lower turnover with apprentices since their company is taking an active part in their career development

(65% of turnover at companies is due to an employee feeling like they are not appreciated)

Special Travel Alert - Lane Closures on westbound I-70 and full overnight closure 32nd Ave under I-70 during girder placement - Nov 3-4

As part of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s I-70 over 32^nd Avenue Bridge Replacement project, crews will install 14 bridge girders for a portion of the new westbound I-70 bridge structure during overnight hours on Thursday, Nov. 3 and Friday, Nov. 4. During this overnight work, alternating single and double lane closures will be in place on westbound Interstate 70 between Exit 265 and Exit 263, with a full closure of 32^nd Avenue under I-70 from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
