2018 Roadcheck Out-of-Service Rate Declines From Last Year
Courtesy of Transport Topics
More than one of every five trucks that received comprehensive Level I inspections during the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s International Roadcheck this summer were taken out of service, CVSA reported on Sept. 12.

CVSA said that the out-of-service rate for the 45,400 Level I inspections was 21.6%, a decrease from last year’s 23% rate.

Likewise the rate of drivers placed out of service for all Level I, II and III inspections was 3.9%, a decline from last year’s rate of 4.7%.  Read More...

Project CURE Needs a Truck Driver!

One of CMCA’s charitable partners, Project CURE, is in need of a Truck Driver for a few hours per week.

The job is about 2-3 hour run total, about 80% of it is dock-to-dock and the exceptions to that are like collection places like behind CMCA.  The equipment used is a 20’ box truck.  Hours are flexible.  On Friday any time between 6am and 3pm and Saturday can be any time after 6am.

If you, or one of your drivers is interested in helping out, please contact Dave Maddux at davemaddux@projectcure.org or 303-886-5527 or Nicole DeVries at nicoledevries@projectcure 720-341-3152

Listen Up: The Lowdown on Hearing Conservation Programs

Is noise at work a problem? You bet. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates 22 million Americans are exposed to hazardous noise levels at work, and the Department of Labor says $242 million is spent each year on workers’ compensation for hearing loss disability. Does your organization need a program? Is excessive noise a problem at your organization? Pinnacol can help answer that question. Our safety consultants are available to test the noise level at your worksite. If the test shows noise equals or exceeds an eight-hour time-weighted average (TWA) of 85 decibels, then your organization needs a hearing conservation program as a first step toward OSHA compliance.  Read More...
