Colorado's Chain Law

From Sept. 1 through May 31, all commercial vehicles traveling on I-70 between the Edwards exit (MP 133) and the Morrison exit (MP 259) must carry sufficient chains to be in compliance with the Colorado chain law.

CVSA Releases Results from 2019 International Roadcheck

Greenbelt, Maryland (Aug. 29, 2019) – On June 4-6, 2019, inspectors conducted 67,072 inspections on commercial motor vehicles in Canada and the U.S. as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) International Roadcheck. During those three days, 12,019 vehicles were removed from roadways due to critical vehicle inspection item violations and 2,784 drivers were placed out of service for driver-related violations. That’s a 17.9% overall vehicle out-of-service rate and a 4.2% driver out-of-service rate.

 

International Roadcheck is an annual 72-hour inspection and enforcement safety event that identifies and removes unsafe commercial motor vehicles and drivers from our roadways; highlights the daily work of the 13,000+ commercial motor vehicle inspectors throughout North America; and acknowledges the safety compliance of motor carriers and professional drivers through the affixion of the CVSA decal on eligible vehicles.  Read More...

Loveland Pass Closure next Week

U.S. 6 Loveland Pass will be closed between I-70 and Keystone overnight Monday, Sept. 9, through Thursday, Sept. 12, while work is done to put in the rumble strip grooves along the highway's centerline. These closures will be in effect from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. If this work isn't finished in four nights, the pass will also be closed overnight Monday, Sept. 16.

 

During these overnight closures, all traffic will be directed to use I-70. Commercial vehicles transporting hazardous materials and oversized loads will be queued outside the Eisenhower-Johnson Memorial tunnels and released at the top of the hour.
