CVSA’s Brake Safety Day is Sept. 7, 2017
Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, is Brake Safety Day, an enforcement and compliance campaign where law enforcement agencies across North America will conduct inspections on large trucks and buses to identify out-of-adjustment brakes, and brake-system and antilock braking system (ABS) violations as part of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Operation Airbrake Program.
The goal of Brake Safety Day is to reduce the number of crashes caused by poorly maintained braking systems on commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) by conducting roadside mechanical fitness inspections, and identifying and removing vehicles with critical brake violations from our roadways.

Food Safety Self-Assessment Tool Available
For those who haul human or pet food, and must follow the new Food Safety Modernization Act provisions, the ATA Agriculture and Food Transporters Conference has developed a self-assessment tool.
ATA’s new food safety online assessment will outline what changes, if any, your company must complete to be fully compliant. The tool generates a detailed readiness report and indicates where action may be needed by food shippers, carriers, receivers and loaders to ensure their compliance with FSMA implementation. Furthermore, upon completion of the self-assessment, a listing of food safety, transportation, and logistics-related service providers is generated, offering various entities in the food supply chain with solutions in each of these operational areas.
It is available for purchase here (
https://fsmatool.org/products/stf-ata).
CMCA has entered into a joint agreement with ATA for this product in order to offer our members a discount, regardless of membership in ATA. The cost for this tool is as follows: ATA Member: $199, CMCA Member: $325, Non-Member: $450. If you are a CMCA member, click the “$325” button.
