Barrel of the Month Club
You are invited to join The Community of ChristChurch Barrel of the Month Club! Each month we will fill our barrel with designated items to be shared with the community. For December, we are asking for new,
unwrapped toys. They will be given to the Hillsboro Fire Department for them to distribute for Christmas. Let's fill our barrel, located in the entryway, and say "Merry Christmas" to the local children in need. If you have any questions please contact Melaine Heffner at
(503) 351-5119 or heffnerjm@gmail.com

Christmas Give-a-Gift Program
During the Christmas season we will be supporting the Hertel Center Food Bank. You can make a donation in a friend or loved one's name, and receive a card from the Hertel Center to give as a gift to that friend or loved one. (A much better gift than a fruitcake or new tie!) We will be available in the Commons after the service on December 8th, 15th, and 22nd to take your donations. This is Christmas shopping made easy! Thank you for your help in feeding the hungry. If you have any questions please contact Melaine Heffner at (503) 351-5119 or heffnerjm@gmail.com

Donations for Bender Family
The Service and Missions Team started a donation drive for the Bender family this past week. The Benders are members of our church who are in need of some financial help for the next 4 months. Our goal is to raise $1,600 to $2,000. Envelopes for donations are available in the entry and can be dropped in the offering basket. Please write "Bender" in the memo line of your check. After your donations are deposited into our Compassion Fund the funds will be distributed directly to the Bender family to help cover their expenses. As of last Sunday, we have already recieved $950 in donations and an anonumous offer to match ardditional funds up to $500. Thank you all for your generosity! The Benders are also in need of an economical car for transportation to and from the hospital. So if you are aware of someone who is able to donate or loan a car, please contact John Heffner at heffnerjm@gmail.com.

Have YOU thought of being in the ChristChurch Christmas program?

If you have family or friends coming into town for the holidays they are welcome as well! We will have one practice on Saturday, December 21st from 10am to 11:30am (approximately). Please contact Rhonda Eppelsheimer (rhonda.eppelsheimer@me.com) or Kris Hoggard (khpigsfly@msn.com)if you are interested.

ChristKids and Friendship Club - Winter Session
Have you been wondering how you might get more involved in the ministries of ChristChurch in the new year? Have you thought about teaching? After the holidays, ChristKids and Friendship Club wil resume on Sunday, January 5th. We are looking for three people to take over teaching our children ranging in age from 4 yrs old to 5th grade. The curriculum is fun, engaging, and easy to prepare and to teach! Please contact Kris Hoggard (khpigsfly@msn.com) to learn more about how you can help.

News from the Open & Inclusive Group
Members of the Open & Inclusive Focus Group are coming up with creative ways to get the word out to the surrounding community about what’s happening at ChristChurch. One idea is a two sided banner for the outside wall facing Hwy 26 – one side, an invitation to Christmas Eve Worship and the other side, an invitation to Easter Worship. Making a two sided banner saves on the overall cost. Two members of the O & I group are pooling their funds together to match any donations toward this banner up to $250. So, if you are interested in helping to fund this banner (over and above your general fund offering, please), know that your money will be doubled by this matching gift! Just write the word “banner“ in the memo line of your check. Let’s do all we can to let people know about this awesome faith community!

Creation Care in the New Year
Do you find yourself wondering how your faith might intersect with the issues of climate change and the current state of the environment? EcoFaith Recovery, the Wilderness Way Community, and Leaven invite you to join in this important conversation by signing up for a course entitled Organizing in the Biocommons. The course begins in January 2014. It is designed for people of faith who are asking the difficult questions about our call to care for the precious gift of creation all around us. Check out the display in the Entry to learn more about this opportunity. The deadline to register is December 15th. If you have questions or would like to register, go to www.ecofaithrecovery.org for more information. You can also ask Pastor David or Gary Graunke, who both attended this course last year.

A brief UPDATE about our web site...

Thank you to Gary Graunke who has taken on the daunting task of learning Dreamweaver (web page software)! Last weekend he succesfully updated our web page. Yay, Gary!
