Front Porch 2.0 Vision Update
If you were unable to attend the Community Gathering on January 26th, and are interested in learning more about the Front Porch 2.0 vision, please pick up a DVD and flyer in the Entry. All we ask is that you try to return the DVD back to the church by the following Sunday so others can view it (we only made 15 copies!)

Barrel of the Month Club

The Service and Missions Team is collecting soup for the barrel this month. Any kind of soup will do... boxed or canned, as long as it is non-perishable. Your donations will warm the hearts of many people in need.

WINGS February Activity
Hope you are enjoying the book, To Heaven and Back by Mary C. Neal, MD.  It is a quick read and very engaging book.  We will discuss this book over coffee/tea/?? on Thursday, February 20th. at a time and location to be announced. Please come and bring a friend! Sign up in the entry or contact Jan O. at j.oeltjen@comcast.net so we can determine the size of space we need to reserve. Thank you!

Special Request: Accessibility Ramp in the Sanctuary
Every once in a while someone in the congregation will suggest to me a ministry or a project that we should take on as a community. When that happens, the first question I always ask myself is: Does this ministry or project help us live out our mission?

So when Blain Radford approached me a few months back with an idea for his Eagle Project, I realized that the answer to my question was, “Yes!” Especially now, as we are in the beginning stages of our Front Porch 2.0 vision, Blain’s proposed Eagle Project fits this description beautifully. But I’ll let Blain tell you more about it…

“I am Blain Radford, a Life Scout with Boy Scouts of America Troop 728 and I am a working towards my Eagle Scout rank this year.

I am also a sophomore at Arts and Communications Magnet Academy (ACMA) and an active participant at Community of ChristChurch.

For my Eagle Scout project I am going to build a wheelchair ramp in the sanctuary of ChristChurch. The ramp will provide access to the stage for people with disabilities. Construction of the ramp will take place during Spring Break, in late March 2014. The total cost for the project is $1,500. This includes the permits, lumber, handrails, carpet and hardware. Several community members have volunteered to help me design the ramp to meet local code requirements and draft blueprints. I have also secured some donations for construction material from hardware stores.

I am now asking family, friends, the ChristChurch community, and local community members to consider supporting this project by becoming financial sponsors or by volunteering to help build it.”

To learn more about this project and how you can help Blain make it a reality, check out the brochures that are available in the church entry or you can contact Blain at (503) 830-2475 or me at pastordavid@comchristchurch.org.

Peace,

Pastor David
