to learn more about this Lenten journey.

Water Marks
is a 40 day Lenten devotional book that explores
the use of water and water imagery throughout the scriptures.
Purchasing the book is not necessary, but if you would like to have a book for
your own personal devotional journey this Lent, we have copies available at
the church for purchase ($10) OR you can purchase your own copy by clicking here.

Service & Mission Team's
Lenten Project:

Walk for Water
When our high school youth and adult leaders travel to Detroit this summer for the ELCA Youth Gathering, they will have the chance to experience the ELCA World Hunger’s Walk for Water display during their time in the interactive center. This display includes an unforgettable walk around a track, designed to simulate the experience of people who must travel miles from home to collect water for their families and also raises questions about access to clean water here in the U.S.

We can support our youth by collecting pocket change over the season of Lent.
During the next few weeks, you will receive a water cup that you can put on your dining room table. The challenge is for us to fill a big water bottle with change and we can do that by filling these cups up with our pocket change and bringing them in to church and watch the change grow. This money will be sent with our youth to Detroit to give to the ELCA Walk for Water project on our congregation’s behalf.

Our gifts will provide water for drinking, growing crops and sanitation, as well as ongoing maintenance and training, to create healthier families, stronger economies and a future filled with hope.

The ELCA has a goal to raise $500,000 for ELCA World Hunger-supported water projects around the world, together we can make a difference.

We are a group of women who are eager to build new friendships with other women in our church, strengthen the friendships we already have, and to serve God, each other, and our community.

WINGS Upcoming Events:

Our next BUNCO activity will be held February 26th. We will meet at the church at 6:30 for food and conversation, and BUNCO will begin at 7:00.  If you would like to sign up to play monthly or just as a substitute, please contact Kris Hoggard.

Join other WINGS members on Tuesday, March 24th, for dinner and a movie.  Since movie titles are not available that far out, the exact movie to be seen is not determined.  Likely candidates are Selma or Unbroken.  If no movie is available of interest, there is the possibility of renting a movie and watching it in someone's home (or at ChristChurch).

               April 25th (Saturday) will be
               "Yard Art" with Marcia Branch.

(Stay tuned for further information on the dinner/movie
as well as the Yard Art. And remember, friends are always welcome.).

Service and Missions Team
Barrel of the Month
The Service and Mission Team would like to send a huge thank you to all who donated coats and blankets in January!! We collected 46 coats and 20 blankets! These will be passed out during the next Hot Chocolate Night on March 1st. Thank you for the warmth and love that goes along with these!

In February the Barrel of the Month will support the
Community Transition Program for the Forest Grove School District.

The Community Transition program works with young adults with developmental
and intellectual disabilities helping them navigate the transition from school to community life.

Our own Kelsey Hoggard works in this program. The participants of this program created a poster that is hanging on the wall in the Commons by the barrel. On the poster are heart shaped tags (it is the season of Valentine's Day after all!) Each heart represents an item that will help enhance their program. Please take a heart, fulfill the need and place the item in the barrel.

If your donation is $$$, please put it in a clearly marked envelope and add it to the offering basket. Checks should be made out to ChristChurch with the words 'Community Transition' in the memo line.

Thank you so much for helping these young people in their program!
