Barrel of the Month
Baby Care Kits for
Lutheran World Relief

A Baby Care Kit from Lutheran World Relief is like a promise. It says to that baby, “Your needs will not be neglected by this world. You matter to us.”

When you send Baby Care Kits, you provide encouragement by welcoming these little ones into an international community that cares. Baby Care Kits are distributed as part of emergency and relief efforts as well as part of LWR health initiatives to encourage women to seek prenatal care.

Shirley Dinger has been assembling Baby Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief for years. It is clear when you ask her about it that this is one of her passions. Each year, Shirley and a friend assemble at least 40 kits that will benefit mothers and children all over the world. Shirley is hoping we will all join her in this effort!

We will be collecting items for these baby care kits in the barrel through the month of March. For a list of needed items, please go to the following link: http://lwr.org/babycarekits

Invitation from Church Council

Dear Members and Friends of Community of ChristChurch,

Your Church Council is a gifted and passionate group of people who love Jesus and love this congregation. However, we are also a very small group, leaving us with a somewhat limited capacity as we seek to be servant/leaders for Community of ChristChurch. So, we are looking for people who are equally passionate about serving God and this church; people who would be willing to give of their time and energy by joining the council. We are hoping to add at least three more people to our ranks.

During the next ten days, we are asking each of you to prayerfully consider who you think would be a good fit for serving on the council. Whose gifts are needed as we move forward into the future the Spirit has in store for us? Do you, yourself, sense a call to serve in this way? Please e-mail Pastor David ( pastordavid@comchristchurch.org) and/or President Sallie Bullock ( sgbullo@hotmail.com) with any names that surface for you as you discern, by Sunday, January 17th. They will in turn reach out to those people to ask each of them to prayerfully consider this call to serve on council through June of 2017. We hope to have a list of names for the congregation to consider by the end of the month. The Church Council will begin planning a Special Congregational Meeting to be held some time in February or March to vote on a slate of names to bring our council back up to a healthy number.

Blessings,

President Sallie Bullock and Pastor David
