Barrel of the Month
Club
The Service and Missions Team is collecting soup for the barrel this month.  Any kind of soup will do... boxed or canned, as long as it is non-perishable.  Your donations will warm the hearts of many people in need.

Coffee Host
Wanted

Are you interested in serving your neighbor with some liquid joy? Consider siging up to be a Sunday Morning Coffee Host! Each Sunday we would like two people to co-host the coffee hour.  The responsibilities include coming in at 9AM and setting up the coffee, tea and goodies and making an extra pot of coffee, if needed, during the coffee time (just after service). We have someone lined up to clean it all up! Are you hesitating because you do not know how to use the coffee machine or how to set it all up, no worries, just indicate that you need a mentor to help you through the first time and we can make sure a veteran coffee brewer is there to guide you through it.  If you are interested, please sign up on Sunday morning or reply to j.oeltjen@comcast. net.

Opus and Crew Upcoming Events

On Sunday, February 9th, OPUS youth will have a hot chocolate and more night. The purpose of the night is to go into Portland to hand out hot chocolate, sandwiches and winter clothing.  Meet at the church around 5PM to assemble food bags. After which we will leave for Portland and return around 8:30 pm.

February 9th --- Show Your Caring Spirit
Valentine's day is coming and we would like to encourge you to join us after worship on Sunday, Feb. 9th, to make a valentine for someone special!  We will have a table with card making supplies in the fellowship room.  So bring your ideas and help someone special feel loved!!

Weekly Giving Snapshot
Have you ever noticed that little blue box in the Sunday morning worship bulletin - the one with all the numbers inside? If you are familiar with this little informational tool, you will notice in the next few weeks that the format and information contents have been changed.

Here is the information we think will be most helpful in understanding how well the church is doing financially:

To cover our current projected operating expenses for the remaining half of our fiscal year (January through June 2014) $120,000 of general offering is required. This number is less than the projected operating expenses reflected in the budget passed in June of 2013 because our actual expenses have been reduced. This breaks down to about $4,615 per week, or (over the span of six months) averages out to $20,000 per month. With this updated information, here is what our 2014 giving looks like so far:

This is an attempt to give more useful information so that everyone has a better sense of how well we are meeting our financial goals. This is a work in progress and will probably need to be tweaked as we move forward. So, we invite your feedback. Let us now if it is helpful or not and what we could change to make it an even more useful tool.

Winter Session of Adult Faith Conversations
The Winter session of our Adult Faith Conversations began on Sunday, January 12th, at 10:45am. The three opportunities are...

Soul Passages
Anke Brandstater is back with a new conversation based on the book, Nature and the Human Soul (no need to purchase the book). In this conversation, participants are exploring a ‘soul-centric’ approach to the different phases we travel through along the journey of human life.

Faith, Sexuality and the Church
Chris Moore has returned to facilitate this conversation in which participants are discussing the various viewpoints within the church regarding sexual orientation and the role of marriage.

Daily Faith
Rhonda Eppelsheimer (along with special guest co-facilitators) continues to facilitate these weekly, topical conversations.
