We have the opportunity to serve with Habitat for Humanity in a couple different ways this month...

Neighborhood Cleanup at Lindsay Lane -
Today, June 22nd, 11:15am - 3:15pm
This is a youth friendly event (14 years old and up). The folks at Willamette West Habitat for Humanity are looking for a group of about 10-15 volunteers to help with a neighborhood cleanup at one of their Habitat neighborhoods, Lindsay Lane in Hillsboro (off of TV Hwy and 73rd, by Lil’ Cooperstown). The volunteers will be working with the HOA to do a neighborhood cleanup which could include weeding, basic cleanup, yard work, etc. There is talk of painting the curbsides as well. All the tools necessary for the group working at the site will be provided.

Volunteers must be 14 or older to participate. If you are interested in participating, please e-mail Pastor David (pastordavid@comchristchurch.org) so he can let you know about any last minute details. He is planning to drive over to the Lindsay Lane neighborhood after worship.

Thank you, to the volunteers who have recently provided some TLC to the beds in front of the church building!
Thanks to the hard work of some volunteers, the church grounds are beginning to show beauty.  If you are interested in helping beautify the grounds of ChristChurch, please contact the church office to learn how you can participate.

Snakes!

We just wanted to let you all know that if you spot a snake or two on or near our parking lot entrance, please don’t be alarmed. They are probably not real!

We have placed a couple of rubber snakes near the entrance as the first wave of an ongoing program we have initiated, and which we have dubbed PDI, or Peacock Defense Initiative. While these birds are beautiful creatures of God and emit a haunting, melodic song… they also emit other things on to our sidewalks. So we are experimenting with some non-lethal approaches to keeping them off the property.

Camp
Lutherwood to have Inaugural Oktoberfest Celebration and Fundraiser on Saturday, October 4th
As a fundraiser, Camp Lutherwood is asking congregations to put together a themed basket for the silent auction. Some examples of themes include but are not limited to:  cooking, picnic, camp, Scandinavian, travel, gardening, Duck and/or Beaver, etc. The baskets should contain items totaling to a combined value of between $50 and $200.  The goal of this event is to celebrate the summer and to raise funds for programming and site support. The goal is to raise at least $25,000!!!! Let's be a part of this fundraising event. The theme for ChristChurch will be Gardening.  If you would like to participate, Lucetta will have a box or a basket in the office in which you can place donations (ideas - a pair of gloves, a trowel, a kneeling pad, a watering bucket).  Further information will be coming from Camp Lutherwood's Development Associate.
