ATTENTION ALL YOUTH!

St. Luke Lutheran Church is hosting Agapé in concert at 6:00pm on Saturday,
March 7th. Prior to the concert, we have been invited to join other youth groups for a pizza party at 4:30pm. While we enjoy our pizza, we will vote on where to send the free will offering money from the concert.

This event is free and open to everyone! Pastor David will be leaving at 4:00pm on Saturday to go to St. Luke and has room for a few more in his car. If there are other adults (parents) willing to come along and drive, that would be great.  Please RSVP by Friday, March 6th, so that Pastor David can let the St. Luke people how many are coming for pizza.  (Call or text Pastor David  - 971-313-1281)
(Note: We will not be meeting on Sunday evening this weekend. This concert is our Youth Group event for this week!)

Come join us on Wednesday evenings for
Lenten Mid-Week Gatherings

Join us each Wednesday evening,
beginning on February 25th, at 6:30pm
throughout the season of Lent
in the
Commons for soup and bread supper,
Bible conversation and fellowship.

The theme for Lent this year is:
We Are Water Marked

We will be using the book,
Water Marks, by Diane L. Jacobson

The weekly theme for our mid-week
gathering on Wednesday, March 11 th is:

to learn more about this Lenten journey.

Water Marks
is a 40 day Lenten devotional book that explores
the use of water and water imagery throughout the scriptures.
Purchasing the book is not necessary, but if you would like to have a book for
your own personal devotional journey this Lent, we have copies available at
the church for purchase ($10) OR you can purchase your own copy by

Service & Mission Team's
Lenten Project:

Walk for Water
When our high school youth and adult leaders travel to Detroit this summer for the ELCA Youth Gathering, they will have the chance to experience the ELCA World Hunger’s Walk for Water display during their time in the interactive center. This display includes an unforgettable walk around a track, designed to simulate the experience of people who must travel miles from home to collect water for their families and also raises questions about access to clean water here in the U.S.

We can support our youth by collecting pocket change over the season of Lent.
During the next few weeks, you will receive a water cup that you can put on your dining room table. The challenge is for us to fill a big water bottle with change and we can do that by filling these cups up with our pocket change and bringing them in to church and watch the change grow. This money will be sent with our youth to Detroit to give to the ELCA Walk for Water project on our congregation’s behalf.

Our gifts will provide water for drinking, growing crops and sanitation, as well as ongoing maintenance and training, to create healthier families, stronger economies and a future filled with hope.

The ELCA has a goal to raise $500,000 for ELCA World Hunger-supported water projects around the world, together we can make a difference.

Through March and April in the Open Spirit Gallery...

... the works of
Renee Hansen

You are invited to a special reception following worship on Sunday,
March 15th.  The reception, hosted by the Open Spirit Gallery
team, is a great opportunity to meet Renee as well as enjoy good conversation, tasty refreshments and beautiful works of art!

We are a group of women who are eager to build new friendships with other women in our church, strengthen the friendships we already have, and to serve God, each other, and our community.

WINGS Upcoming Events:

Join other WINGS members on Tuesday, March 24th, for dinner (The Red Robin - 2660 NW 188th Avenue, Hillsboro) and a movie.  Since movie titles are not available that far out, the exact movie to be seen is not determined.  Likely candidates are Selma or Unbroken.  If no movie is available of interest, there is the possibility of renting a movie and watching it in someone's home (or at ChristChurch).

               April 25th (Saturday) will be
               "Yard Art" with Marcia Branch.

Stay tuned for further information on the dinner/movie
as well as the Yard Art. (And remember, friends are always welcome.)

Barrel of the Month

In March, the Barrel of the Month will support the
Baby Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief

A Baby Care Kit from Lutheran World Relief is like a promise. It says to that baby, “Your needs will not be neglected by this world. You matter to us.”

When you send Baby Care Kits, you provide encouragement by welcoming these little ones into an international community that cares. Baby Care Kits are distributed as part of emergency and relief efforts as well as part of LWR health initiatives to encourage women to seek prenatal care.

Shirley Dinger has been assembling Baby Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief for years. It is clear when you ask her about it that this is one of her passions. Each year, Shirley and a friend assemble at least 40 kits that will benefit mothers and children all over the world. Shirley is hoping we will all join her in this effort!

We will be collecting items for these baby care kits in the barrel throughout
the month of March. You can access a list, as well as quantity of the items needed, in the Commons on a poster on the wall next to the barrel or online by clicking here.

  ATTENTION ALL SINGERS!

Phil Hilfiker is wondering if there is interest in forming an Easter Choir.

He is hoping to find at least EIGHT singers to commit to rehearsals
and preparation to sing one piece on Palm Sunday (March 29th, 9:30am)
and two pieces on Easter Sunday (April 5th, 9:30 and 11:00am).

If this sounds like something you'd like to participate in, please plan to attend the initial rehearsal at the church on Wednesday, March 11th at 7:00pm.

EGGstravaganza 2015

Mark your calendars for the ChristChurch annual EGGstravaganza.  The pancake breakfast/egg hunt will once again take place at Lenox Elementary School on Saturday, April 4th.  Stay tuned for further information.
