Come join us on Wednesday evenings for
Lenten Mid-Week Gatherings

Join us each Wednesday evening,
beginning on February 25th, at 6:30pm
throughout the season of Lent
in the
Commons for soup and bread supper,
Bible conversation and fellowship.

The theme for Lent this year has been:
We Are Water Marked

We have been using the book,
Water Marks, by Diane L. Jacobson

The weekly theme for our our last mid-week
gathering on Wednesday, March 18th is:

Water Marks
is a 40 day Lenten devotional book that explores
the use of water and water imagery throughout the scriptures.

Service & Mission Team's
Lenten Project:

Walk for Water
When our high school youth and adult leaders travel to Detroit this summer for the ELCA Youth Gathering, they will have the chance to experience the ELCA World Hunger’s Walk for Water display during their time in the interactive center. This display includes an unforgettable walk around a track, designed to simulate the experience of people who must travel miles from home to collect water for their families and also raises questions about access to clean water here in the U.S.

We can support our youth by collecting pocket change over the season of Lent.
During the next few weeks, you will receive a water cup that you can put on your dining room table. The challenge is for us to fill a big water bottle with change and we can do that by filling these cups up with our pocket change and bringing them in to church and watch the change grow. This money will be sent with our youth to Detroit to give to the ELCA Walk for Water project on our congregation’s behalf.

Our gifts will provide water for drinking, growing crops and sanitation, as well as ongoing maintenance and training, to create healthier families, stronger economies and a future filled with hope.

The ELCA has a goal to raise $500,000 for ELCA World Hunger-supported water projects around the world, together we can make a difference.

Palm Sunday - March 29th, 9:30am
After worship the whole congregation is invited
to join in fellowship and service as we assemble
Baby Care Kits for Lutheran World Relief
AND
fill plastic eggs with candy for the Eggstravaganza Egg Hunt
on Saturday, April 4th at Lenox Elementary School!

 Maundy Thursday - April 2nd, 6:30pm
Dinner Church
This will not be your typical potluck dinner!

Join with your friends and neighbors around a sacred meal, just as
the first followers of Jesus did, eating, talking, exploring scripture, offering prayers, and singing together. This form of worship is rooted
in the patterns of the Early Church. The meal will be potluck, served family style. Please arrive at 6:30pm with an entrée or side dish to share. You will be invited to help in making the salad, setting the table and making preparations for the meal. Just as early Christians did,
we will incorporate Holy Communion into our meal.

Good Friday - April 3rd, 7:00 pm
Prayer at the Cross
Come and gather around the cross to sing and pray around
the cross as we focus our hearts and minds and center
ourselves in the story of the passion of our Lord.

Attending both of these worship experiences is a
wonderful way to prepare ourselves for the truly
joyful experience of resurrection on Easter morning.

Celebrate Resurrection! - Easter Sunday
April 5th, 9:30 and 11:00 am

Come celebrate God's gift of new life!
He is risen! He is risen, indeed!

Youth Gathering Fundraiser: Raffle & Silent Auction Items Request

There will be an Auction/Raffle event for the Youth Gathering Fundraiser before the Murder @ Mike’s Dinner Mystery Theater on Friday, May 1 and Saturday, May 2. This will be a wonderful community (three churches, lots of youth) event that will include delicious food, drinks, an interactive theater experience, silent auction, and raffle items.

Please help support this event by attending and contributing silent auction and raffle basket items. Items can be dropped off in the church office - please call first: (503) 617-9526.

Individuals and groups are invited to put together a creatively themed basket (eg. chocolate and coffee, golf anyone?, movie night, let’s have a picnic, or whatever you come up with) at a value in the $25-30 range. Please include your name, the value of the item and any other information you would like to add, and we will follow up with a tax deductible receipt. Additionally, the committee will gratefully accept monetary donations if you prefer.

Important: Please email or let us know the name of your basket theme, auction item, or items you would like to have us add to a raffle basket by March 27, 2015 so we can make a booklet to go along with raffle ticket sales. Please have all donated items to the church office by Sunday April 12. If you have any questions, please email

Suze Engbretson - suze.engbretson@nike.com
or Rhonda Eppelsheimer - rhonda.eppelsheimer@me.com

The following items are of the most need: Diapers, soap, pajamas, coats, and jackets up to 24mos. Clothing can be new or gently used but clean - check Goodwill, garage sales etc.  Please help to fill the barrel and help these newborns and their parents.
