HOT TOPICS, Then & Now:
From the Prophet Amos to Twenty-First Century America
In these sessions participants have been exploring how one biblical prophet, Amos, sized up the religious, economic, and judicial systems of his day, and warned the people of Israel about how badly their systems reflected the character and core values of God. Steve Delamarter and Beth Habecker are facilitating this discussion, further exploring how our own systems fare when it comes to expressing the character and core values of God.

Willamette West Habitat for Humanity Volunteer Appreciation:
Inaugural Open Doors Event at ChristChurch
Wednesday evening ChristChurch opened its doors to Willamette West Habitat for Humanity. About 60 Habitat volunteers gathered for an evening of appreciation and dessert. The worship center was filled with beautiful tables adorned with white hydrangeas and babies breath. A catered dessert bar by Reedville. Pastor David was invited to open the event by delivering the invocation. It takes a lot of volunteers to keep an organization like this running. Danielle Baker, the volunteer coordinator for Habitat, recognized each of the volunteer committees, the board and expressed many thanks for everyone's hard work over the past year. Bill Branch, a member of ChristChurch serves on the faith relations committee and helps keep the Habitat community apprised of the happenings of ChristChurch. John Heffner serves on the construction crew for the times ChristChurch participates in Habitat builds. Many people stopped by Pastor David's table and expressed thanks for ChristChurch providing use of the building for this event. Habitat hopes that there will be a time that all people have affordable, sustainable housing.

UPDATE on Blain’s Eagle Scout Project
In preparing for fundraising for and construction of the accessibility ramp for our sanctuary, we became aware of a Mini-Grant competition hosted by the Oregon Health Sciences University. The following is an excerpt from the great news we received just last week...

The Oregon Health & Science University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) in partnership with its Community Partners Council (CPC) is pleased to inform you that the Community of Christchurch has been selected to receive $1000.00 in the first CPC UCEDD Mini-Grant competition. Congratulations!

This means that we can explore other ways to apply $1000 of your generous donations toward other ways to make sure our building is accessible and welcoming to all! If you have an idea to help us with greater accessibility, please contact Pastor David or Lucetta and we will pass it on to the council for discussion. Stay tuned!
