News on the Annual Congregational Meeting
Sunday, June 1st, 10:45am

You are reminded that during the Annual Congregational Meeting, childcare and activities will be provided for the "shorter children of ChristChurch".  Please, join us as we celebrate the ministries of Community of ChristChurch and vote on a new slate of Church Council Members, as well as the proposed 2014-15 Budget.

Following you will once again find bio's (with corrections) of this year's Slate of Officers for Church Council.

A little about the New/Returning/Continuing members:
Jill Bierman
I grew up on a farm just north of ChristChurch where I live now, next door to some of my extended family. I have two boys - Mitchell, age 19 and Garrett, age 9. We love the great outdoors and feel truly blessed to be able to live in such a wonderful area. I have been self-employed, working from home as a foodservice design consultant for the past 6 years. I have been a Lutheran Christian all of my life, even attending a Lutheran high school near Gresham (yes, I commuted from Hillsboro!) I have been attending ChristChurch for about 15 years, initially attracted to the leadership, worship style and emphasis on having a close relationship with Jesus. Now it is the genuine sense of belonging I feel when I walk in the door and the warm, friendly atmosphere that I trust makes all feel welcome. I first became involved with the Community Service Team and joined a small group. Over the years, as both of my boys have grown, I have helped with ChristKids and VBS in various ways. I am looking forward to serving our wonderful church as part of the Council and am excited about its commitment to reach-out to our community.

Chuck Morgan
Julie and I have attended ChristChurch for eleven years. Like many others we have seen the good and not so good times our church has endured. I want to help be part of the force for positive change for our community. My hope and prayers are that we all continue to work together to grow stronger as a community so we can better serve God, each other and our mission. Previously I have been part of the call selection compensation committee, worked with the Habitat for Humanity build teams and last year was rewarded and blessed to be one of the members of the Listening Team. My experiences on the Listening Team was pivotal for me because I realized that we each can have a positive effect on our Church and I got the opportunity to meet so many wonderful members. Julie and I together have four children and six grandchildren ranging in age from eight months to fifteen years. They are the joy of our life and one of the most blessed gifts we have. I am an engineer by training but have been out of that “life” for nearly twenty-five years. I am a small business owner and will, hopefully, soon be an “ex” small business owner.

Sallie Bullock - 3rd year
My name is Sallie Bullock. I have been married to Duane for 19 years and we have a teenage daughter, Meghan, who will be a Junior at Liberty next year. I work as a Physician Liaison for Legacy Health and enjoy golf, running, and vacations on my off time. We have been attending Christ Church for 9 years and love the people, programs and ministry here. I have been involved in many of the kids programs including several VBS weeks, Crew retreats, Crew and Opus leader, coffee cart committee, and the youth fundraising committee. Recently I have served on Church Council and the newly formed Advisory Team and I am very excited about the positive things that God has in store for Christ Church and our Community!

Melanie Heffner - 3rd year
My husband John and I have attended ChristChurch since 2002. We have been married for 45 years, have three children and seven grandchildren. My main area of passion and service has been with the Service and Missions Team. I love the projects we do to help others. As others have said, we are the small church with the big heart! Being on Council has given me new insight into the life of our church. I am blessed to help shape the core workings of our church. I look forward to my second term.

Gary Graunke - 2nd year
I am a retired computer scientist who now spends most of his time on non-profit activities. In my dozen years at ChristChurch I have been involved in the Tech Team, Habitat, and other community service activities. I am a US military and Cub Scout-pack-organizing veteran. I have three children, Paul, Christy, and Ken, and two grandchildren, Westley and Lily. After losing my first wife of 33 years, Lan, to breast cancer, I married Debbie only to lose her to pancreatic cancer 5 months later. I am very grateful to the loving support of many friends at ChristChurch during these difficult times. My hobbies include electronics, solar energy, energy efficiency, and electric transportation—I like to build things that are smart, secure, and sustainable. I prefer win-win games, and believe that following Christ’s example and teaching of “love God above all and our neighbor (yes, all of them) as our self” forms the basis of healthy relationships and attitudes toward others that help us form strong, vibrant, mutually supportive communities, guides our decision making, and aligns us with God’s will and plans for us individually and collectively.

Kelsey Hoggard - 2nd year
I have been a member of ChristChurch for 15+ years since it started in a school gymnasium. I can't imagine my life without the relationships I have created through this wonderful place I call home. I enjoy helping out with our youth programs when I can manage the time, and hope that I am able to help more in the coming years. Last December I made a career change and now work for a non-profit organization called Edward’s Center in Aloha. We work with adults who have developmental disabilities. I teach many classes ranging from cooking to socialization skills, and also plan and attend events and trips into the community every weekend. I love it! I feel truly blessed to have found my calling in the world, and can’t imagine doing any other type of work. I am very excited for what my second year on council will bring. With our new direction, this will be wonderful year of exploration and learning.

Tom Litterer - 2nd year
We began attending Community of Christ Church in 2001 after hearing about the great music and openness from friends at the children’s nearby elementary school. I was initially surprised by the lack of liturgical structure, but grew to love the “Come just as you are” attitude. So far I have not been on a regular committee but have chosen to support Tracy as she taught Sunday school and went to Romania, Emily as she completed affirmation retreats and went on mission trips, and Jake as he joined the music team. I have been most inspired by the small groups that I participated in over the years, including Alpha, Faith Conversations, and especially the neighborhood bible study group. Through these and the messages in the services I have grown in faith and been able to look at faith from new points of view. As my children move off to college, I look forward to moving from supporting them in their church activities to directly contributing as a member of Council. I pray that I can bring good listening, an unbiased attitude, and optimistic faith to the CC Council.

Rich Radford - 5th year
I am the father of two teenage boys, Blain and Mitchell. Chris and I have been married for twenty-one years and have attended ChristChurch for about fourteen years. It is through my service at ChristChurch that my faith has grown. I’ve been blessed to work closely with youth in the past and have been on mission trips to San Francisco and Mexico. Currently I serve on the Service and Missions team and on the Advisory Team (NAME YET TBD). By trade I am a startup company operations executive. I enjoy the variety of work, the ambiguity and the challenges and fulfillment that new endeavors bring. During a rare, year-long break from working I led a nonprofit that provides clean water filters to the impoverished in Haiti.
