Swords into Plowshares

Scripture Reading for this Sunday:
Isaiah 2:1-4

ZoomUganda
shares the journey of 12 girls from the Uganda village of Matale, who were given 12 cameras and 24 hours in which to tell their own stories through their own lenses. A Photovoice project directed by Julie Resnick of Portland, Oregon, ZoomUganda empowered its participants to stand in the centers of their world and show you the view from there.

Update on Hot Chocolate Night:

Thank You to everyone who contributed warm clothing and spent time making blankets during
God's Work. Our Hands.
Our high school youth and adults had an incredible evening on
November 1st serving people living on the streets in downtown Portland.  The much appreciated
warm articles, conversation and hot chocolate were gratefully received by our neighbors in need.
About half of the donated items were distributed.
We will be planning another trip downtown this winter - please join us if you can.

Youth Ministry:

This month our Ecumenical Youth Night will take place at Hillsboro United Methodist Church (168 NE 8th Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97124) where we will meet for a meal, games and worship and learn about migrant farm workers in our area.

Saturday, November 22nd

Annual Thanksgiving Dinner
6:00pm

The Front Porch Team needs to know how many people will be
at the dinner so that they may ensure the right amount of food
will be available.

So please, if you have not already done so, SIGN UP to attend.

You can sign up in the Commons this Sunday.
You can also call or e-mail the church office to let uyus know you are coming.

Meat/dessert/beverages will be furnished – attendees are asked to bring:
potatoes, stuffing, vegetables or a salad.

Remember, if you picked up a pumpkin to carve for the contest, you will need to bring it on Nov. 22
to enter it in the carving contest.  If you did not pick one up, they are available outside the entry doors
to ChristChurch - stop by and pick one up. Carved pumpkins will be used as table decorations.

We are a group of women who are eager to build new friendships with other women in our church, strengthen the friendships we already have, and to serve God, each other, and our community.
