Community of ChristChurch
Happy Thanksgiving
Prayer of Thanksgiving

Lord, You have blessed us as a church over the past year.
Through good times and difficult timeswe have felt Your hand of grace, forgiveness and healing.
Today, as a congregation,we want to publicly express our gratitude to You.

We thank You for the leaders among us.
For the many in our church who offer their time,
energy and abilities to lead us—both paid staff and volunteers, seen and unseen.

For these blessings, Lord, we give You thanks.

We thank You for the children of our congregation.
Each time a baby cries or shouts,
we are reminded of how much You love them.
We also thank You for the young people among us,
for the energy and passion they bring to us.

For these blessings, Lord, we give You thanks.

We thank You for many opportunities we have had to serve You, to demonstrate our love for You to our co-workers,our neighbors, our families and friends.
We thank You for the many among us who make possible
the ministries of Community of ChristChurch.
We also thank You for the many who reach out to others
in informal ways each week.

For these blessings, Lord, we give You thanks.

We thank You that even when sickness and accidents
make our future uncertain, You are with us,
strengthening, healing and encouraging.
We thank You that we can be part of the healing process
as we help care for one another.

For these blessings, Lord, we give You thanks.

We thank You for friendship.
We thank You for the many times we have enjoyed each other’s company over meals, in times of recreation and service, and in smaller groups.

For these blessings, Lord, we give You thanks.

Indeed, Lord, You have blessed us.
We have been blessed materially, physically,
emotionally and spiritually.
As we look back over this past year,
we realize that we have much to be grateful for.
We humbly receive the gifts You have given us,
knowing that You are the giver of all good things.
And so together we say:

For these blessings, Lord,

                            we give You thanks.  Amen.

During this Advent season, as we light the Advent candles and offer up our prayers of Hope, Peace, Love and Joy in worship each Sunday, we also invite you to join us during the Faith Conversations hour to participate in some engaging activities designed to help us connect our worship with our daily walk of faith.

December 2nd - Offering up Advent prayers of Hope, we invite you to gather in the Commons after worship to assemble Advent kits to take home and use for daily prayer and devotions, keeping hope alive in our daily lives.

December 9th - Offering up Advent prayers for Peace, we invite you to join us after worship for the Mission Fair, sponsored by our Service and Mission Team, to learn about some of the ways you can participate in making our corner of the world a more peaceful place for our neighbors.

December 16th - Offering up Advent prayers of Love, we invite you to assemble Kringle bags in the Commons, filling bags with food, warmth and love for our members to share with those who are in need during the holiday season.

December 23rd - Offering up Advent prayers of Joy, and as we fill our worship time with special musical offerings from our congregation, we invite you to gather in the Commons after worship to practice a few Christmas carols and take our Christmas cheer on the road, sharing the joy of Christ with folks living in care facilities in our area.

A Thanksgiving dinner feast!

The weather outside was rainy and cold but inside, the warmth of family and friends (over 100!) radiated throughout the evening.  With tables decorated by hosts, ham and turkey provided by the Front Porch Team, the fixin's brought by everyone who came, and awesome pies handmade by Tammy Gomez, the evening was a success.  We appreciate the guests who were able to join us and are thankful for all who helped put this evening together!
