A Story of Love & Laughter

Scripture Reading for this Sunday:
Genesis 18:1-15; 21:1-7

Beginning this Sunday,
September 20th, at 10:45am

Faith Conversations will be
Bible Conversations!

I invite you to be part of something sort of different and sort of the same as we kick off a new year of Adult Faith Conversations. Starting this Sunday after worship, we are offering three opportunities to gather in small groups around the Bible. These conversations will run from Sept 20th through Nov 22nd. All you need to bring is your Bible and a desire to get into the conversation!

Exploring the Questions
Rod Davis and Chris Moore will be facilitating a small group that will explore the questions they have about the Bible - questions like, “If Adam and Eve were the first (and only) people on Earth, where did their kids’ spouse come from?” or “Does God condone violence?” No question will be off limits. There will not always be easy or simple answers to the questions that are raised. Sometimes our faith grows best simply living with the questions together in community.

Nooma Inspirations
Heather Davis will be facilitating this small group that will explore various texts of the Bible through the lens of Rob Bell’s Nooma videos. In these short videos, Pastor Bell explores important themes of the Christian faith such as forgiveness, evangelism and loving our neighbor. Heather’s group will use these videos as springboards for engaging conversations about life and faith.

Sneak Peek!
I (Pastor David) will be facilitating a small group that will be digging in to the Bible text that will be the centerpiece for the following week’s worship. In other words, the preaching text for next week will be the conversation text for this week. I am looking forward to the opportunity to learn from and with each of you how these stories speak to our lives and our world today.

These Bible Conversations are a wonderful way to grow in our faith through our conversations with Scripture and with each other. It is my hope that you will take advantage of these opportunities to get to know the Bible and each other in a new way. See you on Sunday!

Peace,
Pastor David

Whatever Happened to the
Congregational Vitality Survey?

Remember the survey that many of you took at the beginning of the summer? You might be wondering if we forgot all about it. The answer is simple, "No, we didn't." The summer has a been a busy one for all concerned, including the folks who are trained to help our leaders interpret the survey data. So, we had hoped to be ready to roll out the results of the survey mid September. But conflicting schedules and circumstances beyond our control have meant that we need to move that back to some time in October. Thank you to everyone who filled out the survey. And thank you all for your patience. Please know that your efforts to give us a good snapshot of ourselves as a faith community, will not have been in vain, and this information will help us make better decisions about how best to move forward in mission here at ChristChurch. Please stay tuned!

Now through the end of September, enjoy the unique vision of...
