On October 6th, Community of ChristChurch is invited to participate in an annual church tradition with other Hillsboro area churches celebrating the Feast of St. Francis, with a blessing of pets.
I will be joining the pastors of All Saints Episcopal, Misión San Pablo, and Calvary Lutheran to offer pet blessings (in English and/or in Spanish) to the wider Hillsboro community. I encourage you to bring your pet to the Sunset Esplanade parking lot (near the Petco on TV Highway) between 3 and 5pm that Sunday afternoon. All pets blessed that afternoon will receive a free certificate of blessing.
Between now and then, I also encourage you to invite your friends and neighbors to participate. If you have a favorite vet, pet store, or animal training or service provider, consider inviting those businesses to donate treats and/or provide information about the services they provide. Let's make this a joyful celebration of the stewardship of creation!

Sunday, October 13th is CC Faith Cafe day. We are in need of 25 volunteers to assist with setup, hosting, serving and cleanup. If you are able to volunteer, please contact Trisha or sign up in the church Entry.

Special Prayer from the Pastor
Gracious and loving God,
We thank you for loving us and for entrusting us
with your mission and ministry in this place.
As the time for our Discernment Gathering grows closer,
we ask that you would open up our hearts and minds
to the new thing that you are doing in our midst.
Open up our eyes and ears
so that we might see and hear your presence among us.
Give us wisdom in our discernment.
Give us the energy and strength to act on the stirrings
of your Spirit within us.
May we trust you fully as you claim us in our baptism
and call us to go out into the world with your good news.
May we take the love that you have given us
and reflect it out into our surrounding community as love
for our neighbor.
All of these things we lift up to you
in the name of the crucified and risen one,
our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Amen.
