 Reason #1: Film Has A Character All Its Own
Perhaps film's beauty lies in it's tonality. Maybe it's the texture of its grain or the depth of its colors.
Whatever the reason, you may want to try shooting a roll to experience film's very special "look."

Reason #2: You Already Have A Film Camera & Lenses
My guess is that somewhere in your home is a 35mm camera and a collection of fine lenses. Why not use them?
Think of film as just one tool in your photographic tool box. You wouldn't use a screwdriver for every job. Use film to
supplement your digital photography.
Your camera is paid for. A roll of film costs just a few bucks. So, why not use film where it makes sense?

Reason #3: Film is Hassle-Free and "Goof-Proof"
Digital cameras have limited exposure latitude. There's only plus or minus 1/2 stop of exposure latitude when you shoot JPEGs. So, there are times when your camera will miss its exposure.
Film is
very forgiving! You have an exposure latitude from a half stop under to 3 stops over. So, it's pretty tough not to get a usable picture.

Reason #4: Less Work After You Shoot
Many advanced amateurs and pros are shooting in RAW to gain extra exposure latitude. But, converting from RAW to JPEG files can take hours of post shooting work.
When you use film all the technical work is done in our lab. You just snap the shutter and we give you beautiful prints. It's that simple.

Reason #5: Picture CDs Offer Digital Images From Film
Digital images on Picture CDs can be used for reprints and enlargements ... just like images from your digital camera.
Picture CD are inexpensive. You order them when you have your film developed. Your cost is just $7 (24 exp.) or $9 (36 exp.) roll. (They're free this month when you order prints!)
Picture CDs will produce beautiful reprints and enlargements up to 11" x 14". That covers most of your reprint needs. Use your original film negatives or slides when you want larger prints.

Reason #6: Slide Films Produce Brilliant Color
Slides are still the #1 choice of many photographic "purists." Transparencies have rich, saturated color and a wide dynamic range. That's why they're the required medium in many photo courses.
You can also get both prints and Picture CDs from slide films...which we process every day.

Reason #7: Black & White
Black & white prints accentuate your compositions. Their dramatic tonal range ...with characteristic grain...gives them a classic, artistic feel.
We recommend Kodak's BW400CN.
BW400CN has higher resolution and finer grain than traditional B&W films. Its prints are nothing short of awesome!

Reason #8: Single Use Cameras
These handy little cameras will produce reasonably good prints when we print their film digitally.
Here are some places you might use them:
- When you don't want to put your digital camera at risk. Disposable cameras are ideal near water or if you're concerned about theft.

Should Pros Use Film?
I spoke to a pro who was shooting an anniversary party in San Francisco a couple weeks ago. She swore by her approach of shooting on film and then using digital scans to make her prints.
I think most pros would be better off sticking to digital for event shooting. Your work flow through our ROES printing system is very easy. So, I don't see any big advantage to shooting film.
Pros using a photo-journalistic style might want to mix in
some digitized film shooting with their digital camera images. I've seen film images add a nice "retro" look when used selectively in coffee table albums.
