Hello,

Quick question - How are you reading the linked articles on the website?  On your smart phone? PC/Mac? Laptop?  Daydream Excursions is introducing the first phase of our mobile friendly website.

This week's feature article explores some of the different ways to prepare your taxes. WHAT?  How is tax preparation related to travel planning?  Read on and see what you think.  I've wanted to write such an article for quite a while.

We're again featuring an all-new way to experience Bermuda! While a mere 7 Day cruise, I sincerely feel this is a break from the debate of the whether it's the ship or the itinerary.

Our mission is to help you produce the maximum experience for your travel dollar.

Warm regards,

"Dave, thank you so much for helping Sarah and I plan our honeymoon. Hawaii was so beautiful. If I could relive any three weeks of my life, those would be them. There was no way I would have been able to plan flying to three seperate islands, renting cars, a bunch of excursions, hotels and a wedding without ripping out what few remaining hairs I have left. I'm so glad I found you online. I have had two of the best trips of my life thanks to you. Everything was so easy. All of the changes, flights etc. went so smoothly, we encountered no troubles. I'm looking forward to planning my next trip with your help next summer. Thanks for being awesome."

If you have other techniques please share!  We’ll look at the pros and cons of each and perhaps answer what this has to do with Travel Planning.  Note: this article is for educational purposes only; none of the suggestions, etc. may be construed as tax advice.

1) IRS Paper Forms – Fill out forms and schedules by hand, assemble all of your supporting documentation, and send in to the IRS and State taxing authority(s).  For wage earners or renters with minimal deductions and income from minimal sources

Pros

Cons

  • May miss deductions
  • May not properly calculate capital gains rates
  • No support for your own personalized situation
  • No one to call for help should your return be audited or questioned by the IRS

2) Prepare on your own with Tax Software.  Use popular software like H&R Block at Home, Turbo Tax, or Tax Slayer, etc.  Follow interview driven question process and key in your data.  Best for those with mortgages, deductions, self-employment income, real estate and capital gains income, and itemized deductions

Pros

  • Easy to follow interviews
  • Free to moderate cost
  • All calculations done for you
  • Schedule/Worksheet completion are all done via interviews
