13B’s V MENAI LOST 24-26 WOW what a day for a footy grand final, it was balmy, windy and the field was a dust bowl, just what we needed for a big show down between these two teams. We got off to a shaky start and things just didn't seem to be going our way and not before to long Menai was over the line to put the first points on the board. Menai was coming at us hard and strong, but our boys did well to keep them at a distance, but unlucky for us they got some penalties thrown there way and were able to get in for another try. Our boys were not going to let that worry them, so when they finally got the ball the managed to make some yards and just before half time Jordan went storming over the line. Half time came and went and the boys were back out there ready to dig deep and that is what they did, they went out there and clawed there way back from behind to sneak in front and i have to say Jordan was on fire having the game of his life, not to forget the rest of the boys, they had to keep backing up in defence time and time again, and when they got that ball they were looking dangerous, and Menai was starting to get a bit shaky, then with around 40 secs to go a mistake by us gives Menai the ball back............and well we all know what happened then......game over Menai wins by two. Boys you all should be proud of yourselves you went out there and gave it everything you had and that is all that matters, us parents are proud of you all and I am sure your coach and trainers are too. Well done see you all next year.
A-Grade Match report V’s De La Salle Lost 38-8
Anyone reading this report who managed to get along to the game last Sunday would know where I’m coming from when I say we saved our worst game of the season for this game. I don’t know how, why or what was the reason and I guess there will be plenty of experts with an opinion on where we went wrong? But I do know that this team would have to be one of the best teams I have had the privilege to manage and be part of and results aside, we had a brilliant season both on and off the field too which I feel we should all be very proud of. I won’t harp on about this game as the score pretty much sums up the game and the feelings of all those involved on the paddock that day. When Aaron Palmer was elected coach for 2009 he immediately went about the usual things a coach does in preparing an A-Grade squad but what was pleasing to see was his vision for the future of both the Club and the viability of running an A-Grade squad. Aaron has built a very good foundation this season to which can only get stronger with him at the helm. In his first year of coaching he has proved he has the energy and capabilities to coach and we can only hope that he is involved with the Dragons for many years to come. Thanks must also go to Kendal Flint who assisted Aaron this year in the coaching role. The same also goes to our three trainers in Corey Markham, Lee Wood and Mark Noakes. Our strapper come Chef come Sponsor come all round Champion Grahame Wagener. To ALL our sponsors (listed below) that showed tremendous support this season, in particular our major sponsors in Club Heathcote, Adams Smash Repairs, Engadine Heathcote Sand and Soil Supplies, Sportzone, KRS Electrical Services and Mick’s Quality Family Meats. Your support this year has been fabulous and greatly appreciated by the entire A-Grade Squad. I encourage everyone who receives this database to keep supporting these businesses going forward. To all the wonderful supporters including “The Hill” that followed us around to all our games and cheered us on to many victory’s, your efforts didn’t go unnoticed and I can only hope that you got as much enjoyment from the season as we did. Your support in some of our tight games by heckling the opposition and cheering our lads on was sensational.
Well folks, that is it for another season, stay safe, enjoy the off season and I hope to see you all back next year when we do it all again. |
