MEET KAMMIE ROUTT |
Welcome to Kammie Routt, the newest addition to our Personal Insurance Team! Kammie joined Fidelity as a Personal Insurance Account Manager in January 2013.
"I've been in insurance for about 5 years, in between being a stay-at-home mom. My husband and I have been married since 1999, and have two daughters and a dog. Outside of work, we like anything outdoorsy - shooting, camping and riding our quads. I also really like all different kinds of mixed-media crafts, but my real passion is photography."

| Mandatory Washington Boater Education |
Boating season is here! If you are a Washington boater, make sure you are ready by completing the required Mandatory Boater Education. State law requires boat operators to carry a Washington State Boater Education card when operating motorboats with 15 horsepower or greater (including personal watercraft or any motorized watercraft.)
This program has been phased in over the past few years by age groups. in 2013, all boaters age 50 and under are required to have their card; in 2014 it will be all boaters age 59 and under; after 2014, all boaters born after 1955.
Visit www.boatered.org for more info and find out where to take your boater education course and how to get your Boater Education Card.

| Yard Work Safety |
For many of our neighbors in Spokane and the Northwest, summer means more than sunshine and vacations. It also means working in the yard - often with tools that can be dangerous if not used properly.
Each year about 400,000 people are treated for injuries from lawn and garden tools, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. Don't let your landscaping efforts land you in the hospital!
Here are a few safety tips:
* Dress appropriately. To protect yourself from debris when using lawn tools, wear eye protection, long pants, long-sleeved shirts, close-fitting clothes and no jewelry. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
* Keep children indoors and supervised at all times when any outdoor power equipment is being used.
* When using lawn chemicals, use only the recommended amount. Using more of the chemical will not do a better job.

| Insurance Member of the Year Recognition |
I wanted to announce that Mary Lemon was recently selected by the International Association of Insurance Professionals as "Insurance Member of the Year" for this region. She was nominated by her peers for her industry involvement and commitment to our profession. This is an award that I know Mary was pleased and surprised to receive, and on behalf of all of us at Fidelity, we say congratulations. We are proud of Mary and the way that she represents Fidelity.

| Asian Slaw with Ginger-Peanut Dressing |
 |
|
Try this salad recipe for the warmer weather ahead!
Dressing Ingredients
1/4 cup honey
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup unseasoned rice vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon Asian sesame oil
1 tablespoon peanut butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Sriracha (Thai hot sauce - optional)
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
1 large garlic clove, minced
Slaw ingredients
4 cups prepared shredded coleslaw
2 cups prepared shredded carrots
1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced into bite-sized pieces
1 cup cooked and shelled edamame
2 medium scallions, finely sliced
1/2 cup chopped salted peanuts (or you can leave them whole)
1/2 cup loosely packed chopped fresh cilantro
Make the dressing by combining all of the dressing ingredients in a medium bowl. Stir until the peanut butter is dissolved. Set aside.
Combine all of the slaw ingredients in a large bowl. Add the dressing and toss well. Let sit at least 10 minutes so vegetables have a chance to soak up the dressing. Taste and adjust scanning if necessary. Serve cold.
