The new semi-private sessions are now well under way, thank you to all those who are attending this very unique form of exercise provision.  It is very privileged to have such a  small number of participants enabling more precise instruction and facilitates an exclusive feel to the sessions. A great advantage is the facility to provide specific sessions for specific needs and levels.

Please save and complete your feedback freely and also make known your interest in attending any of the following 1 or 2 hour sessions during half terms and holidays:

Chilworth Olympics Sunday 1st July

We have the honour of being invited to attend the Chilworth Olympics in July. Activities include sack races, welly throwing and tug of war! All organised by the Chilworth Village Green Committee. We hope to be providing Nordic walking tasters and workshops for a nominal fee to be donated to to the Village Green fund, which enables them to keep the area clean, tidy and well planted for us. Weight loss v fat loss

Why you don't just want to lose weight!

Thinking about what your are really trying to achieve when you are on a weight loss programme is very important. Too much focus on mere weight loss can be demoralising and counter-productive.

Weight loss: can be 50% muscle and water, especially if you just diet. Not a good idea if you want to maintain your results long term and if you want to look toned and shapely, be healthy and be happy! On just a diet, you may feel lethargic, miserable and stressed, and studies show you risk gaining more weight later.

Fat loss: should be your true goal.  Fat loss  inside and out,  is not always indicated on your scales (unless you have special scales). On a fat loss programme, weight loss may seem slow, but you quickly notice that your clothes fit better, you have less flab or cellulite, and you look and feel stronger, fitter and have more energy. Fat loss is achieved by fueling with a  nutritionally balanced diet while training your body effectively to become a lean, fat burning machine.


FACT:

A pound of muscle takes up less space than a pound of fat but it still weighs...a pound!

Lean muscles shape, lift and tighten the body

Lean muscles = better fat metabolism

You don't have to lift big weights:

Body weight programmes  or Pilates can be very effective

Even thin people can be flabby if the muscles lack tone

Therefore:  focus on fat loss rather than just weight loss...

No one  will know how much you weigh


Everyone will notice a well toned, shapely, figure!
