Greetings from the snow-bound mountains of North Carolina,

December has proven to be a busy month here at Florence, and it is only half way over! First, after a visit with Sandi Basel, president of the Blue Ridge Fiber Guild and her good friend Jane Campbell - Florence Art School is the recipient of a generous donation of 4 beautiful weaving looms!


These looms are a donation on behalf of the South family in honor of Ruth South;  a patient, soft spoken woman from Meat Camp, North Carolina known for her talents and instruction in weaving. ((Click here to learn more.)

Then after a week of cold, freezing temperatures, the weather broke and we had a beautiful day for Christmas at Florence.  All in attendance have a very enjoyable time.
We saw some familiar faces along with some new ones. Ed Perzel even graced us with demonstrating how he creates his coveted hand-painted Christmas cards.  Thank you to all who helped make this event possible and continue to help us keep Florence Thomas' Legacy alive!

The sun is shining as I type, so there is hope that we will have melted by May, just in time for our first workshop  with watercolorists Susan Crouch.
