CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Recently, I had the pleasure of attending 'All About COLOR', a half-day workshop, with my 5-year old.  Here we learn
ed color relationships by making sun catchers, color fans and an edible color wheel!

Needless to say the right side of my brain was stretched and by using simple techniques I have been inspired to push past traditional tools and techniques to discover a new world around me - including my kitchen drawer!

I have a renewed desire to create! Thank you!

Do you have a story or picture to share? Submit them to: director@florenceartschool.org and if they are posted you will receive our "Honk if you have been to Florence" Bumper Sticker.

Greetings from Florence,

I invite you to join us for some very engaging and unique opportunities to experience the arts through our Instructor Open Studios. Here you can meet some very fascinating and talented artists face to face.

On July 31, from 2-5 pm, oil painter, Harold Frontz will have his contemporary impressionistic paintings on display and conducting a special presentation at 3 pm, explaining important painting techniques such as choosing subjects, colors, mediums, materials and compositions.

On August 9th, from 5-8 pm,  Sharon Sharp will  share her love of bookmaking. As you become immersed in her one-of-a-kind handmade books, it will become obvious how rich are the possibilities of capturing personal expression in a book.

On August 14, from 2-5 pm, watercolor artists, Carol Ann Herring, will captivate you with her impressionistic portraits and landscapes as you view her works you may even recognize a scene or two from Ashe County.

On August 21, from 2-5 pm, plein air artist, Addren Doss will enchant you with her  light filled paintings filled with intense pure clean colors and strong value patterns. Some viewers swear they can feel the wind in their hair.

On September 11, from 2-5 pm, Paul Keysar will  renew your relationship with the beauty of nature and stir your emotions as you recollect the feelings of past times and places through his classic landscapes.

These special events are provided free of charge and  include a temporary gallery of the artist's works and a quaint meet and greet with the artist themselves.

I invite you to share in one of these and  many of our other opportunities, try something new, and dare to be inspired!

Sincerely,

Meghan B Minton
