THE LETTER E

Thanks to the Students at Euclid High School for the letter E! The students took on a challenge much like the guitars scattered all over Cleveland and made giant E's to be displayed all over the city of Euclid.

The Y Helped Me
Get Healthy

Carol Tamburro is age 54. Over the last year she has lost 40 pounds. She is down five sizes in clothing. Today she works out 6 days a week, 30-45 minutes a morning or cardio and weights. In the evenings she attends a spin cycle, boot camp or AB class. She is now eating healthy, watching her portion controls and eats three solid and healthy meals a day.

A MESSAGE FROM THE BRANCH DIRECTOR

When I pause and look back on this past year at the Euclid Family YMCA I am extremely proud of all our accomplishments. We had the most successful summer camp of all time, one of the largest Back-to-School Rallys, served over 1,000 families through the Euclid/Hillcrest Family-to-Family Collaborative, helped nurture families to get healthy and get moving, welcomed hundreds of new members and even began some building improvements.

I don’t know about you, but the staff is exhausted.

We have all worked hard to help support all of you and we will continue to do so in 2013. If we can be of assistance or you have any suggestions on how we can make your experience even better please stop by and let us know.

In January we will begin our Annual Campaign to raise scholarship dollars for families in need. At the YMCA of Greater Cleveland, no one is turned away because of an inability to pay. How are we able to do this? Through the generosity of donors just like you.

What Will Your Donation Mean to a Child?

  •  Your $50 gift to the Strong Kids Campaign will enable one child to participate in an eight-week Y Winner Sports program
  • $100 will provide a child with one week of YMCA summer day camp.
  • $250 will provide one month of school age full-time child care
  • $1,000 give a child a full summer of Y Day Camp, helping working parents keep their kids safe and stimulated all summer long.
  • We are also looking for members who have an interest in helping us be Branch Stars to raise money for the Annual Campaign. We will holding an Annual Campaign Kick-Off some time in January and we will also be offering training for our volunteers on “Friend-raising.” If you are interested please stop by my office for more information.

And finally, keep a look out for information about our Life Guard Academy that will start up at the beginning of the year. The Euclid YMCA received a grant from Starting Point and this will allow us to offer free of charge a Life Guard Academy for youth ages 15-18. The youth will participate in swimming lessons, lifesaving programs and possibly job placement. Stay tuned for more information.

From all of our Y family to yours, we wish you a happy and healthy New Year.
