BACK TO SCHOOL RALLY A HUGE SUCCESS

The Back to School Rally was held on Saturday, August 13.  About 75 kids and their families were in attendance.  This was a free event open to the community.  We had a wide variety of entertainment and activities for the kids.  We would like to thank JT & Dee with Fire Squad Entertainment for donating their time.  They provided the DJ service, face painting, bounce house, water slide and other fun kid’s activities.  The City of Bedford Police and Fire Departments were educating the kids on safety and giving them a tour of the fire truck and ambulance.  Bedford Giant Eagle donated raffle prizes and school supplies.  The Southeast Branch of the Cuyahoga County Library and Wellness Defined and Coffee by Sharon were there with information and giveaways for the kids and the parents.  We had free popcorn and snow cones for all to enjoy.  Fun was had by everyone.  We thank all of our sponsors for attending and helping us make our Back to School Rally a success!

Health and Wellness Update

There are a lot of exciting changes coming to the Health and Wellness department this fall. The HIIT was launched in June and has been hit with the members. The HIIT is a 30-minute class that uses short intervals to improve total body conditioning.

We have added more classes to the Group Exercise schedule including Energy Combat and The Mixx. Energy combat is a two hour class that consists of step aerobics, kickboxing, sculpting, and stretching. The Mixx is a variety class that is different every week - some days you will do cardio and other days weight training.

We will also be running personal training specials from August until the beginning of October. You can sign up for four to six sessions of either 30 minutes or one hour and save 15%. There is a limit of one package per month. We have also begun a personal training referral program. For every person you refer that signs up for a package, you will receive 10% off your next package. There is a limit of five referrals that can be applied to the discount of you package (50% of next package). The personal training special and the referral offer can not be combined.

Michael Carter,
Branch Director

My name is Michael Carter and I am happy to have relocated from Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

I bring with me a strong skill-set with my strengths being accountability, leadership and vision.  I am delighted to have this opportunity with the YMCA of Greater Cleveland having served nearly 12 years with the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee.  It is with great honor that I became the Branch Director of the Southeast YMCA and I look forward to continuing my YMCA career with this cause-driven, charitable, non-profit organization.

I believe very strongly in good customer service and for me this includes safety, cleanliness and first-class customer service in daily operations.  As the leader of this branch, I will guide the staff with a deep passion for making a difference with the members we serve and the community at-large.  I look forward in working side-by-side with our board, lead by Adrienne Love.  I strive to ensure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background has the opportunity to be part of our life changing organization that strives on providing a high quality lifestyle through youth development, healthy living and social responsible.

In closing, I would like to cite one of my favorite quotes from Erma Bombeck, “when I stand before God at the end of my life I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, ‘I used everything you gave me’.”
