Right in our own backyards, a thriving “Urban Forest” is hiding in plain sight. This course explores the ethnobotany of our immediate surroundings – a resilient mix of native stalwarts, naturalized “immigrants,” and common landscape trees and plants that flourish in Ventura County’s neighborhoods and parks.
Fall Harvest Workshop with Christopher Nyerges
Saturday, October 24
Join me and this local legend-author-survivalist in Wheeler Gorge on Saturday,. October 24 for  hands-on work with wild acorns and black walnuts. This workshop is based on our combined 100+ years of foraging and Christopher’s many books, including Foraging California and How to Survive Anywhere.

Watch the sunset "pink moment" and rising of the full moon on the Topa Topa Bluffs with us on Sunday, October 25. On the way up, we’ll stop to meet some valuable edible and medicinal plants.
