"If a fellow can't trust his nose,
what is he to trust?"

- C.S. Lewis, from The Magician's Nephew

Is yours a brand people trust? Do they trust you as a person?

I can tell you, when researching a business, almost any business, with a purchase in mind, the first thing I take mental note of is not their prices. In fact, I rarely make a decision based simply on price.

I choose to buy, perhaps not consciously, because the company's web site, or store, or sales person, or any number of other front facing factors is pleasant and appealing. By ensuring their own image is clean and professional they've immediately increased my confidence in what they have to offer me. Visual appeal goes a long way.

I believe I'm not unique in this thought process. I like when people, and the company they represent, are not slick snakes. I'm given actual prices and precise shipping data. I like a store or web site that is easy to navigate and I can quickly find my way toward what I'm looking for.

All this seems pretty straight forward. And it should be. Unfortunately, this is not how all businesses operate.

Taken all together, the business that presents me with what I want (and to be clear - I'm not talking simply about product offerings) has earned my trust. And there are plenty of them that haven't. Generic & cheesy typefaces or signs and too-good-to-be-true "deals" break down my trust. What does work is a person who says what they mean and stands by what they say. It's more than just a great sales pitch.

When I send an email asking for more information and I get a quick response, what I receive is a message beyond just the content of the email. The quick response says to me this person, or company, is on their game. They respect me and they've again earned my trust. It's that simple. If they don't have my trust, they don't have my business.

In order for a business to succeed it must be trustworthy, and have employed trustworthy people. One follows the other - and the order doesn't really matter.

You can do most of it right, but use lousy fonts or feed me a line and "most" is not enough.

Who do you trust? I'd love to hear your experiences of businesses, or people, who have earned your trust. Or, tell me how you earn your customers trust. Send me an email with your story.

Hundreds of square feet of windows
A recent project Ignition completed at The Source saw hundreds of square feet of exterior windows transformed into an effective proclamation about who the company is.

The Source didn't need to show their specific products or services to get their message out. The intended audience can be moved to action with the right images and emotions displayed in their windows.

Whether your business is service, retail, corporate, health care or something else, you can inspire your customers too with big, bold, larger than life images.

We can help transform your space too. Contact us today for your free estimate.
