           MID-JULY 2016
Mid-July 2016
It's the middle of July!
Hopefully you are enjoying these lazy days of summer... the Farmer's Markets full of beautiful fruits and vegetables... the great outdoors, including our wonderful Kentucky parks with camping and recreational opportunities.
Did you know that July 20th is National Moon Day?  In commemoration of the day man first walked on the moon... I remember this event, but it strikes me that we now have an entire generation for whom this might be not on their radar.  Talk about awesome events!  Literally!

Our theme this month is excerpted from Max Ehrmann's poem, " Desiderata."  My favorite line from this poem has become our theme:  Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should.  I have had to remind myself of this ~ I find it inspiring and comforting to know that things are always in Divine order - even when we can't totally understand some of the events that occur.

Our entire team of practitioners here at IIM are our Practitioners of the Month... each of them stand ready to help you embrace your journey toward wholeness and wellness.  Please, let us know how we might partner with you in your care.

Be sure to check out our Health Tip Video... and have a wonderful rest of your July!
~ Love, Kim

Watch Our IIM Health Tip of The Month:
Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should...

Health Tip:  "Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should." ~ Max Ehrmann

Welcome to Mid-July - Our theme this month is excerpted from the Max Ehrmann poem, "Desiderata."
My favorite line is "Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should."  I understand the "Law of Attraction" - that whatever energy you put out is what you attract back to you - what you sow, you reap, etc.  But sometimes things just happen that we don't readily understand.  You may have the feeling, "Really, God, could this truly be happening to me?"  Perhaps you've been let go at your job.  Perhaps your relationship has ended.  Yet on some level, I believe that our Souls agree on some level to go through certain experiences for the greater good - even if we can't see that greater good in the present moment.  If we can just hang on and trust God and truly know that things are unfolding as they should, it may give us the courage and strength to persevere these difficult times.  Things are probably already underway for events to unfold that you never expected.  Perhaps a better job or more fulfilling relationships.
As Bobbi, my colleague, used to remind me, we don't have to like it!  So hang in there and trust the Divine Process... "Whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the Universe is unfolding as it should."  It doesn't mean we have to like it.  Trust God.  Trust the process.  And remember if you need help getting through these difficult times, give us a call.

Additional Health Tip!  Outdoor safety...
Louisville summers can be very hot and humid.  The weather is great for creating plush trees, flowers and gardens, but can also lead to excessive heat indices.  It's easy to become dehydrated before you even realize it.  Dehydration can lead to headaches, migraines, dizziness, lightheadedness and fainting.  Be sure to drink plenty of water.  Our basic recommendation for water is half your weight in ounces per day.  If you weigh 150 pounds, you need at least 75 ounces per day.  Add an extra glass for every caffeinated beverage that you drink.  Adding fruit such as oranges, strawberries or blueberries can transform your water to a refreshing spritzer!  Add a sprig of mint or cucumbers for other refreshing ways to drink water.

Protect your skin by using sunscreen.  Many people are great about applying sunscreen initially, but then may forget to reapply every couple of hours.  Sun damage can rear its ugly head years later as skin cancers, so be sure to take heed and use an SPF of at least 50 for your body and 100 for your face.

Please wear a helmet when biking, rollerblading, skating, horseback riding or riding on a motorcycle.  This can literally be the difference between
life and death should an accident occur.

Be safe...and enjoy your time outdoors!

Massage therapy has many health benefits and has much research to make it a science based practice.  Massage has physical, mental and emotional benefits.  Just a few of the benefits of massage are:
1.  promotes relaxation due to stimulating the parasympathetic nervous system
2.  can help with back pain management
3.  promotes better sleep
4.  can decrease migraine frequency
5.  can reduce muscle tension throughout the body but particularly those tight shoulder and neck muscles.
Plus, SO much more.
