Educational Classes & Opportunities Coming Soon!

Our theme this month ~
Move Your Body Joyfully!

Welcome to May!  Our theme this month is "Move Your Body Joyfully!"  Warmer temperatures are finally here!  It's tempting to get outside, go all out and restart your outdoor exercise program just where you left off last summer!  But be careful!  Your outdoor exercise might involve different muscle groups than your winter exercise routine.  Remember to begin with stretching and a five minute warm-up.  Check out this video link: IIM Health Tip of the Month  to learn more on the benefits of exercise!

Angie Megibben, our Yoga Teacher, is our Practitioner of the Month.  She has certainly impacted all of us in our ability to move our bodies joyfully and gracefully.
In honor of "Move Your Body Joyfully" month, Kimberly May will debut her first Nia class on May 20th.  This is a wonderful, fun way to move your body.  Imagine a cardio-dance workout based on your body's own ability to move and stretch.

It's May, and once again, lots going on at IIM and in "the Ville!"
Enjoy moving your body!

This workshop is designed to relieve tension and restrictions throughout the hip joint, allowing for full range of motion.  This opens the pathway for the legs to move freely inside the hip socket.  As we continue to work the bone tendon connection down the leg, better balance and a mind-body connection is achieved, giving you a higher level of function as well as comfort.  Whether you are training as an athelete, or for the action of your life ~ come experience Yamuna body work and give yourself an edge.
SAVE YOUR FACE! ~ June 20th - 10-11:30 AM
This Yamuna Body Rolling technique will impact the bones of the face, releasing stress patterns, restoring balance and increasing mental awareness and a sense of well-being.  Helpful also for the sinuses, releasing TMJ stress patterns and relieving puffiness... see an instant brightness in your face!

The practice of Yamuna is a great way to begin listening to your body.  It is a stress free way to start positive dialog between your mind and your body, increasing your body awareness and sustainability.  Using specially designed Yamuna balls you can find relief from pain... and the hope and possibility of healing while lessening the wear and tear on the body and promoting sustainability.

IIM Practitioner of the Month:
Angie Megibben ~ Light Works Yoga ~ "mind-body-spirit"

Happy Move Your Body Joyfully Month!  Did you know that it is impossible to separate physical health from mental and spiritual well-being?  Research over the last several decades reveals that mental and spiritual health definitively affects physical health.  Thankfully, our abilities to scientifically validate these findings only reflect what yoga has been teaching us for almost 6,000 years and that is:  work with the breath and move the body joyfully to calm the "monkey mind," and you will find peace in your heart!  Here at Light Works Yoga Studio, it is my goal to help people, through movement and breathing, "re"member that their bodies, minds and spirits are connected at the deepest of levels.  When each aspect is in balance with the other two, then we can know true well-being and wholeness.  Namaste!

More about Angie:   Angie Megibben is the founder and owner of Light Works Yoga.  Angie was raised in a family of athletes, went on to get her M.Ed., then Yoga Certified through Jimmy Barkan Hot Yoga in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.  Drawing on a lifetime of experience with movement and education, she now teaches Yoga to all ages as a way to improve your life.  Because of her own experience with medical issues, Angie knows how much Yoga can offer the human body, and as a teacher she hopes to show others how to alleviate pain, stress, illness, or anything else to help the Mind, Body, and Spirit.

What classes does Light Works Yoga offer?   We offer four different yoga programs designed specifically to improve strength, flexibility, and tranquility.  We offer classes in "Core Strengthening," "Restorative Yoga," "Gentle Yoga," and "Spine Health."  We also offer a class specifically for people living with Parkinson's, as well as a class specifically for people living with Fibromyalgia.

We hope you'll join us soon!

Yamuna Body Rolling is a completely original fitness and therapy practice that focuses on the bone, tendon and muscle connection.  With the use of gravity, breath and a specially designed ball, you impact your bone structure.  As a complimentary and alternative therapy, Yamuna works with the body in a logical, systematic approach to unwind muscles, subsequently releasing tension on the skeleton and making space in the joints.  Whether you want to enhance your current workout or increase your mobility and comfort, Yamuna has a routine for you.
Walk taller, step lighter and increase your body awareness.  Start just where you are!
